The legend lives on,
From the Chippewa on down,
Of the big lake they call Gitchee Gumee.
The lake it is said,
Never gives up her dead,
When the skies of November turn gloomy.
Fall was always my favorite season. I liked the colors, the smell of woodsmoke and apples. Cider. Win Schulers Bar Scheeze and/or beer cheese dip in a bread bowl. I liked the smell of the air when you knew snow was coming.
Winter is nice for several weeks, but not for as long as Michigan has it. I miss winter. Spring? Meh. Wet, dirty and ugly in my opinion. Summer? I'll take summer. Sweet corn, watermelon, burgers on the grill.
I think I'm firmly off topic now, so my apologies to the thread.

And Kary- I'm also a psychologist (school psychologist and counselor). So lots of cognitive stuff, intelligence tests and all that. And I also sell non-fiction as well. I'd also like to add at this time that I'm from CA (born and raised) and I know what real pot roast is and I make it ALL the time...but I think I might be a bit of an outlier considering I'm from a dairy and my husband is from a ranch. We grew up in the mountains, surrounded by snow, trees, rivers, and cows....lots of cows. I live in a different area now (more city small townish) and impress all my "city" friends with my ability to wrestle down large animals, make butter, say exactly what I'm thinking, and shoot a gun.

Stop! Hardly even had to look. I can remember when it was on the radio practically once an hour. I also remember hearing about the wreck itself on the radio. I guess I'm showing my age there.

Cool, and that's three of us female-types in CA, too. I'm an MBTI person, and I also like the Hartmann Boundary Questionnaire. Weird the skills one picks up from even a semi-rural lifestyle. Hubs thought I was the Corn Goddess herself when he saw me hand-pollinate our corn and pumpkins. That's *after* he thought I was a complete nutso for speaking of male and female flowers on the pumpkins and thinking I could tell by looking from a distance. So I went out and showed him.

Well, actually, you haven't said anything yet that definitively pegs you as a woman, so I considered that I might be giving a guy a very girly name. But, dang, I had to make it fit the format.
No, wait, you did say "us female-types" up there...but up until that second, you could have been a guy. Honest, I really considered that. (I have to, given my name. I is gurl 2.)

FWIW, I've been known to use "female-type" to describe myself, and I most assuredly have a Y chromosome. It's the hair...

Hello everyone,
I've been being a bit of a creepy lurker for a couple of weeks so I thought I better introduce myself. I'm Tania, I live in Glasgow, Scotland and I've (very) recently started writing fiction. I got a (probably well deserved) straight rejection last quarter, but I hope to do better in this one - after I finish nanowrimo which is eating my time at the moment.
I also have a PhD in fantasy literature. Which is absolutely no help in creative writing!
Nice to meet you all,
Tania
Welcome aboard, Tania! You don't sound creepy at all.
