Welcome aboard, Thomas!
Don't worry about your story as long as you don't accidentally send it elsewhere. Can you narrow it down to just a handful, so you can send out your other stories?

Hey all,
My name is Justin Key and I'm a 24 year old aspiring novelist and have been writing horror and fantasy (with sprinkles of sci-fi) for about 5 years now. I entered this past Q1 competition and am anxiously awaiting results!
I blog for Scribophile.com, have my own blog at theinkroad.blogspot.com and tweet short stories at @TalesoftheTweet.
Thought I'd introduce myself since I've been lurking these forums daily since entering the last contest 😛

Thank you Martin and Morshana.
What have you written and where does one go to exibit ones work or does that only apply to "non-contest" stories?
Welcome aboard, Justin! Following in the Michael Crichton tradition, eh?

The best place to start (in my opinion) is Duotrope.com. They have a massive searchable database of markets broken down by genre, length, pay, and more. They also report submissions and responses for each market. You can search for markets; but if you create an account, you can also track your submissions and history. It's all free, donation supported.
Ralan.com also has a market listing, but I don't know it well. I like Duotrope's tracking tools, and all my stories are already on file there, so I stick with them.

Welcome! So exciting to have new fresh idea on the board! I can't wait to read all your stories (either in exchange or when you publish).

I've been lurking here for a while now. I figured it was about time I introduced myself.
My name is Sean Hazlett, and I entered the contest for the first time in 1Q Vol 29. I am originally from Wilmington, Delaware, live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and am an Army veteran. I currently work as an equity research analyst. In my limited free time, I write both science fiction and am a political blogger.
My 1Q Vol 29 entry is my first.
I tend to be a numbers guy, so if you're interested in how many people enter the contest each quarter, or what percent of the rejections were sent out for 1Q Vol. 29, I have worked out some well-educated guesses here:

I am looking forward to plenty of future discussions here.

Hello all, Erik Brewer here. Resident of Denver but a native of Chicago. Submitted a story in the 2nd Quarter of 2012. Been writing for quite some time and starting to hit hard on getting my publishing career going. I write mostly sci-fi and speculative fiction, but to me a good idea is a good idea, regardless of genre. I would love to hear from all of you and talk shop. Drop me a line!
Welcome, Erik. It's always great to see another Denver-area writer on the board.

Welcome, Sean and Erik (and any others I've missed)! Nice to have you join us.
Sean, what a wonderful breakdown! Thanks for that.
Erik, you'll want to edit your post above to remove the name of your story -- the contest is judged blind, and if the coordinating judge happens to see it, you'll be disqualified.
(edited to correct my misspelling of Erik's name)

Thanks Grayson, didn't think of that. Whew!
Wow, Sean, that's one crazy post! Makes my eyes bug out. Nice work putting it together.
Welcome to both you and Erik--looking forward to getting to know you both (although judging from your URL, Sean, we will not get along in terms of politics. )

Welcome aboard, Sean and Erick!
I'm late to the welcoming committee. Mom has been in the hospital all weekend (but is home now).
But the real reason I'm late is Dean introduced me to Bad Agent Sydney, and I've been laughing all weekend.
