I am new to the forum. I have been published in several indie collections, but not professionally yet. I have a juicy R from Q1 V29. I go by the name ven. I live in Seattle, WA and do shorts and novels. I am currently awaiting news on Q2 V29. I might have to clunk around here a bit, so any advice on how to fancy up my page, here, please let me know. wotf007

Welcome aboard, ven! If no one can help before I get time tonight, I'll send some suggestions. But I'll bet they'll get your questions answered before I can.

Hey all,

I was active on the forum years ago, but haven't been around for a while now since life (finishing up college and adjusting to this thing called "real life") intervened. I've been lurking recently and decided it's about time to crawl back out of the woodwork and (re)introduce myself properly.

I'm a PA native currently working as a freelance writer/editor eking out time for fiction wherever I can get it. Looking forward hanging with you all!

OK, ven, I promised to help with setup issues. Looks like you've figured out most of it: you have an icon, and you have a signature. But the link in your signature's not working. It LOOKS like a link, but it's not clickable. Here's mine as an example, with blank spaces added to the open and close tags so you can see the formatting:

[ url = http : // MartinLShoemaker.com ]Martin L. Shoemaker[ /url ]

Make it like that, but with no blank spaces inside the square brackets. Also note that there should be no quotation marks around the web address.

It's been a while since I was called out from lurking, so I guess I should post on this thread. My name is Joe Vasicek, and I've been writing science fiction for the past two decades, since I was about eight or so. I went to BYU, where I took Brandon Sanderson's writing class a couple of times and finished off the last of my proverbial million words. Last year, I started self/indie publishing a lot of my work to Amazon and other electronic sites. I haven't looked back since.

I was born in Texas, but grew up in Illinois and Massachusetts, and have family scattered all across the country. In the past ten years, I've lived in twenty different places, most recently Kutaisi, Georgia (the former Soviet Republic), where I'm currently teaching English. I majored in Political Science because it was the closest thing to psychohistory my university offered, and also studied Arabic. After my stint here in Georgia, I'm seriously considering taking a job in Wadi Rum and living with the Bedouin for a while.

I keep a regular blog at One Thousand and One Parsecs. I like to make it out to Worldcon and World Fantasy whenever I can, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen this year. I'll be up in Massachusetts for the summer, though--maybe I'll make it out to something over there.

Aaaaaaaaaand that's about it. Nice to meet you all!

Yeah, I've only got a Q1 story at the moment. I tend to write more novels than short stories, so I probably won't be a regular quarterly submitter to the contest. Although, come to think of it, Dave Farland's winning WOTF story was the first part of his novel On My Way to Paradise...so maybe I'll come up with something.

One of the first chapters of my novel is out at Stupefying. 60+ days and counting.

But, welcome new members. Watch out for the Evil clones of us running around.

Makes me wonder what Evil Bob Writer would be like...

Nooo! Don't summon him...

We'll need a Gatekeeper, then, and the launcher won't do. We'd have to get the Marshmallow Man.

Okay finally found this thread...had a feeling there would be one someplace.

I write under the name of L. E. Doggett, older with a wife of 33 years and a daughter who is 22 years old.

Been writing most of my life but seriously for the last six-seven years. One story published in a pro market. Had a couple of comments, one HM here, but nothing since. Almost like I forgot how to write. Well, except for a three more HMs but that was with help from a critique group.

I live in Central Calif., am a blue collar worker and spend my spare time writing.

Have a blog here http://musingsofle.blogspot.com I post at irregular times.
