Hey Brad, Great to see you here!

And a great big hello to everyone here on the forums. I very humbly appear to be one of the 2012 Q4 finalists, and I just wanted to greet everybody and say how happy I am to be here with all the other aspiring writers.

A great big thank you as well to Kary English for reaching out to invite me onto the forums. This place should be a lot of fun.

-Chris

Hi

While I have been writing for a few years, I only recently started submitting. It was suggested to me that as a finalist in the fourth quarter of the contest I should hang out here every now and then.

Hey Brad! Not sure if you remember me from Dave's outline class in March 2011. I had the epic fantasy in three timelines. Good to communicate with you again. Smile
I managed to place as a semi-finalist for the 4th quarter of 2012 and figured now is a good time to register and maybe become a little active, but more likely I'll make this post and then lurk.

Everyone else: Hello! I'm Aaron Calloway. I write science fiction, fantasy, and other genres under different names. Basically, I write, as much as I can and as often as I can. Though I've dreamed of being a writer since I was twelve, it is only in the past few years that I've gotten serious about it, and only in the past few months that I've discovered I had a mental illness and got on medication that allowed me to actually maintain the focus I need to write every day. Okay, I guess technically ADD is a mental illness, but it never felt like one even though I didn't know I had it. I knew something was wrong, but I thought it was me being a lazy failure. It wasn't, and I'm happy about that.

I look forward to talking about writing with all of you. It's my favorite subject, as I'm sure it is yours.

Aaron

If only I had a reason for my laziness. wotf019

Seriously, though, glad you're getting it sorted! I had a roommate once with severe ADHD, and he was a completely different person once he started Wellbutrin.

(Uh-oh, I mentioned a drug name. We can soon add pharmaceutical spam to our usual San Diego Party Bus guys.)

Glad to have you on board, Aaron! Congrats on your semi-finalist! That's a high mark, for sure. Look forward to getting to know you here on the forums. wotf010

(I ask this purely for selfish reasons, but got anything you've written posted up for me to look at? wotf007 )

Hello, all!

I guess what's old is new again? I signed onto the forum a few years ago, and didn't do much posting. But I've been lurking for the last week or so, and it seems like a great place.

I've been submitting to the contest off and on for a few years now, gathered a few HMs, and had a note from KD on one of my submissions, and one of my goals for 2013 is to submit for each quarter of the contest.

I'm also a sporadic poster around the NaNoWriMo forum, having managed to complete NaNo each year since 2008.

Well howdy-do Aaron. Nice to meet you. Good Going there you are off to a good start however long you have sent in stories. wotf008

I think a lot of us get the desire young and hold off doing something with it for years. I waited a very long time since my desire started way young, I felt it again in high school got side tracked and later it built back up. Well, actually it never left all the way. I was doing stories in my head at times.

Good that you found something to help you and good you are doing something with your desire. Yea Team.

So be welcome and join us not so sane people. Hey- we lie for a living or want to.

NaNo is good and you will find follow Wrimos here. You have a good goal there even if it is only four certain stories you will be doing but they will be your best. wotf008

The four stories for the contest will be just the tip of the writing iceberg for this year.

By the way, SC Baker, I like your avatar. I'm very good friends with a donkey.

Ah, then you may have seen Jericho, the donkey. He lives in the Portuguese Bend area, and we're often out for walks around there. Why a donkey is a better hiking companion than a dog? A donkey can carry a lot more beer.

Hello.

I ran out of words...

But no. Now that I've finally figured out the code in those strange jibber jabber threads and there was a nice short one to start at the start with, the forums looked a little less intimidating so I thought I'd register.

So. Um. Hi.
(Yep, still no words. I guess I used them all on my first ever entry for Q1.)

Hi everyone,

My name is Tom Schoonbaert, 37 years old and I live in Belgium (Europe). I've been writing SF and horror stories for a while now, although always in Dutch. Ever since I heard of this contest, I just wanted to try and write in English. Despite reading quite a lot of English books for over 25 years, actually writing a story in a non-native language is something else. I do want to try it, even if just once. The idea is there, now all I have to do is get it on paper and preferably in decent English wotf008

See you all around!
