By writing and not giving up. These days, I think the novel market may be more open than the short story market, but it's a very different world from when I was breaking in, so my advice may not be valid.
Of course, since you're here, you already know that the WotF contest is a terrific way to get in
whew -- I've been typing as fast as I could, and I got to most of the questions, but my hour is up. I hope you all found this useful.
I hope to see some of you at the Awards Ceremonies...and on the bestseller lists.

Yes, and we hope to see some or all of the people in this forum at one of the next WotF events. Several have certainly come very close with finalist and semi-finalist stories. Keep going!
