About David Hankins:
David Hankins is the award-winning author of the novel Death and the Taxman (publishing Tax Day 2024). He writes from the thriving cornfields of Iowa where he lives with his wife, daughter, and two dragons disguised as cats. His short stories have graced the pages of Writers of the Future Volume 39, Amazing Stories, DreamForge Magazine, Unidentified Funny Objects 9, Third Flatiron Anthologies, and others. David devotes his time to his passions of writing, traveling, and finding new ways to pay his mortgage. You can find him at https://davidhankins.com

About Sarah Morrison:
Sarah Morrison (she/her) is an award-winning fantasy illustrator and portrait artist. Working primarily with oil paint she focuses on figurative works designed to inspire narrative, with attention towards faces and fabric. Escapism through fantasy has always been a central theme to her art, and she embraces whimsy and enigmatic details. Sarah's imagery is designed to inspire a sense of wonder, encouraging viewers to develop stories about what might be going on in each piece. You can see her portfolio at sarahmorrisonillustration.com

About Jason Palmatier:
Jason Palmatier is a speculative fiction author who has written for screenplay projects, independent comics, graphic novels, and short story anthologies. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and previously worked in the computer security sector as a software developer before turning to writing full time. His award-winning story “Under My Cypresses” placed second in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest for the 4th quarter of the 2023 contest year, and appears in volume 39 of the anthology. See details of his various projects at

About Elaine Midcoh:
Elaine Midcoh (a pen name) is an award-winning writer of short stories and science fiction. Besides being a winner of the Writers of the Future contest, she was also a WotF published finalist, and she won the 2022 Jim Baen Memorial Short Story Award. In addition to, “Writers of the Future, Volumes 37 and 39” (Galaxy Press, Nov. 2021 & May 2023), she’s been published in the anthology “Compelling Science Fiction” (Flame Tree Press, Oct. 2022), and in the magazines/literary journals Escape Pod, Galaxy’s Edge, Daily Science Fiction, Jewish Fiction .net, Flash Fiction Magazine and The Sunlight Press. She is a retired criminal justice/law professor and lives in South Florida. You can connect with her on Facebook @Elaine Midcoh or visit her web page at www.ElaineMidcoh.wordpress.com.

About T.J. Knight:
TJ Knight is the pen name for a regular dude who lives in New York (upstate, not city) surrounded by oaks and pines, deer and turkeys, a cat, son, wife, and on holidays, a daughter. He makes soap, bakes too many paleo brownies, reads, runs, and writes. His favorite authors are KL Going, Laini Taylor, and John Steakley. While this may seem an eclectic group, he reads more for style than content. And oh, the style!

In his story “The Fall of Crodendra M,” TJ attempts to highlight the drawbacks of our evolving hyper-individualism. Technology allows us to remain home and watch weddings, graduations, and funerals on screens. This quickly went from unheard of to accepted, perhaps with normal coming soon. So as more and more of our entertainment is streamed into our living rooms (be it from space or otherwise), this story explores the meaning of actually visiting a friend or loved one instead.

About Writers of the Future:
L. Ron Hubbard established the Writers of the Future Contest in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring young authors to gain a foothold in the field of speculative fiction.

In 1988, based on the success of the Writers of the Future program, a companion contest was created for new and aspiring illustrators seeking to become speculative artists. Learn more here: https://writersofthefuture.com/en...
