New Submission Portal 2021

I created my profile and submitted for Q4. Looked like everything worked fine, but I haven't received a confirmation email. 

Anyone know whether the new system sends out confirmations? Sorry if this has already been asked and I missed it.

The system should have sent an email confirming to you, but possibly there are some more bugs to work out on this. However I did manually go into the system and confirmed your submission is there and looks all good!

@jason I didn't get a confirmation email either. Can you confirm my submission.

I like the fact that I can login and see my entry number. It’s so official. Kudos

Thanks for the alert. Looking into this this email confirmation actually has not been fully implemented yet upon further investigation. I will work to get this confirmation up and running as I see that so many people are used to this confirmation. In the mean time if anyone is worried their submission didn't go in I am happy to look, you can email ([email protected]) me or PM me and I will be happy to take the time to verify it is all set. You should also be able to log back into your account and see that it is submitted as well.

We will work to improve this as we go and most importantly make this a constructive place where writers can work and share their experiences.

As a general note, bot the old system and the new system for the submission portal is and was handled by WizeHive, same company. They just stopped supporting the older system for their own internal reasons and upgraded all users to this new system, which is what we are now using.

Hello all,

I'm having an issue submitting for Q1 2022.  The link to enter the contest sends me right back to the same page.  (Also, the description for the link still has information for Q4 2021.  Maybe I'm just a tad early?)  Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue.  Any help greatly appreciated!

@sting sorry for the trouble. It took me a few days to get the submission portal up and running. It is now ready to take in submission for Q1 Vol 39. Best, Jason

@jason, can I confirm the way that the new portal works, specifically with regard to hiding/showing entries for now closed quarters?

I submitted my entry for Q4 as usual, but now that the new quarter is visible for me to complete, my entry for Q4 can no longer be viewed within the portal. While I would guess that this is to prevent users from having access to edit their entries or view information they shouldn't see (possibly--hard to know as I don't know the ins and outs of the system very well), it's also a little disconcerting alongside other submission portal systems, most of which retain a visible record of previous submissions.

Hello! No problem the new portal system will keep your submission viewable until the end of the quarter, then when the next quarter starts it clears out the prior submission and creates a new draft for the next quarter.

Once you submit in the portal you can no longer change or edit your submission.

The email confirmation for the submission is now working so that will also assure people once their submission is into the system and finalized.

Hope this clarifies it for you.

@jason, thanks--that does confirm what I had guessed! It's a little unusual not to have a visible record of prior submissions in the portal for quarters that haven't yet been judged, but the email confirmations that have been added should take the odd feeling away from that.

@jason Do you know if there would be any opportunity/consideration to add a couple things to our profile on the submission system. Namely a pair of opt out options.

I NEVER want to get a paper certificate sent to me and at least once I forgot to email back to say that and the contest ended up wasting time and money to send me something I put into the recycling. I know many people value those certificates but I already have too much stuff and don't even have my degrees and diploma documents out of their envelopes/tubes they were sent in.

The other option would be to opt out of being posted on the blog list of HMs, SHMs, Semi-finalists. Obviously if I end up in the finalist/winner pile someday that I would be happy to have posted. But any of the lower levels I don't really need that posted.

Wanted to let users know on the WizeHive submission portal system I have been getting some login issues of some users.

Here is what I got back from the engineers at WizeHive:

I did get reports after this of people using Chrome successfully.

Dang Jason, I can't give a like to that info, but I can say thanks for the heads up.

Especially after what I went through yesterday. Somebody locked my computer, and I had no control for a while.

I haven't entered for this quarter yet, so my anxiety level went north of the red line.

One more read and I will enter today. I hope, anyway.

Trying to submit for Q3, but it doesn't seem to be ready. Says the deadline has passed. I'll presume it's still chewing on last quarter and that I've not completely messed up my dates.  

@pdblake Yes, sorry we are now in the middle of the Writers of the Future Workshop and I have to get the next portal opened between...

Ok Jason, no worries. Plenty of time anyway. 

I submitted a story for 2nd Quarter 2022, and received a confirmation email. But when I log into my account, there is no indication that I've got a submission pending. I this normal, or am I just looking in the wrong place?

Congratulations on finishing a story and submitting it!

I checked the system and see your submission in correctly. When you log in here https://webportalapp.com/sp/writers you should see a box that has your submission, which will be marked with the date of submission and cycle number. Your cycle number is 39B (Volume 39, second quarter).

Next to this you should also see a new draft in the system ready for the next cycle, 39C.

As a note we are still judging 39A, so it is going to be some months until you hear back on your submission.

The attached is a sample of what you would see. The blue one would be the draft for the next cycle, where once it is submitted you will see the date and cycle number.

Submission Portal login issues.

I added the following message on the home page of the submission portal login as looks like some browsers are giving login trouble still. FireFox and Chrome are solid if you have any issues, thus the following message was added:
