I'm trying to parse out the general writing stuff, from the general art and illo stuff, from the stuff that is strictly contest-related; like the results threads. I'd just as soon have the results threads right up at the top, as opposed to two or three ranks down the page.

Yay! Figured you must be messing with things when I popped on here earlier and a bunch of sub-forums were condensed. I like the new set-up, very nice.

I see you've also become an appealing shade of green.

Ooh, indeed, green...a bit ago, you were yellow.

I think the new organization is quite nice - thanks, Brad.

Red seemed a tad... I dunno... scary?

I wanted a color that was less threatening.

Yellow didn't stand out enough. Blue seemed like it would blend too well.

Not sure if green is it, but it works for the moment.

I'll be slowly putting threads into their respective places, even the dead ones.

Thanks for the patience, all.

Green. The finest of colours. The colour of algae and gators and swamp.

For a moment I thought I'd entered another dimension when I sauntered in here today. But then I though, ah ha! Brad must be moving the furniture again! :)

It makes sense, to have the Contests at the top.

Being a creature of
1) sick habit (not quick in understanding new layouts etc)
and
2) visually-induced psychosis
and
3) having tried to lay out websites before myself ... and had them turn into confusing labyrinths of weird inter-page navigational links and routes (that made sense to me at the time) ...

I know re-arranging forums isn't anything I can offer much helpful insight on!

And yours is a work in progress, as you've said.

But perhaps the ILLUSTRATORS' PORTFOLIO links

http://forum.writersofthefuture.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=682

could be added (or copied) to the ART & ILLUSTRATION forum?

Also, might the roving eye be less confused if three of the forums didn't begin with the same word "General" ?

It could be
Art & Illustration -- General
Writing -- General
Science Fiction & Fantasy -- General

(heck, it could be WRITING -- General etc)

I know that's nitpicking, but ... crossed the mind as a first time viewer.

I agree, actually. I think having three categories that begin with "General--" is a bit confusing to the eye. It makes it harder to take in the whole page at a glance. I like the suggestion of just switching the "writing, illustrating, etc." subheadings with the “general” tag.

This is looking great!

Brad, there is a thread somewhere about artists posting links to their portfolios (I started it some time before the workshop). I was wondering if it could be moved to the artists section. /nefarious plotting
