He's like a serial Analog contributor now, and so soon too. I mean, just . . . wow. "Ray of Light" is a beautifully written, imaginative story. Just a great read. No wonder it got the cover. Thank you, everyone. Yup, didn't take long to "establish" myself with the English language's oldest and most widely circulated science fiction magazine. After all the many years of zilch, it's heartening to finally be having some nice success. I am glad people are finding "Ray of Light" worthwhile. Like I said in Brass Tacks in the back of the magazine, "Outbound" set the bar high, so I aim to deliver.

Grats! can't wait to read it.

Not only is Brad in Analog; now he's in Analog's new anthology! And he's in there with some awfully big names, including my inspiration, Barry B. Longyear!

Think of it, people... Two years ago, he was unknown. That's the sort of visibility the contest can get you IF you do diligent follow-through (which we all know Brad has done).

Because that IS a great "sampler" for the book AND a tasty marketing coup for a writer, Brad, to be the big exposure face for the whole anthology!

From their FAQ:

Analog sells recent back issues directly from the editorial offices. Simply send an email to [email protected] requesting the issues you'd like. We will then get back to you with availability, prices (generally cover price with ship costs), and where to send your payment.

For older back issues, you can try posting a message to our forum to see
if any other readers would be willing to part with the issue(s) you want, or find a local SF shop that sells back issues, or check out conventions.

I am proud to announce that my friend and collaborator Alastair Mayer and I have sold our novelette, "Strobe Effect," to Analog Science Fiction & Fact. I had a lot of fun working on this story with Al. I think we both brought our strengths to the piece, and it's one of those stories whose sum is greater than the parts of the whole? Or however that shop-worn phrase is supposed to go. (grin) Anyway, first sale of the year for me. And January's not even over yet. I like this trend.
