Spotted on Bluesky: Benjamin C. Kinney, an Escape Pod editor, wants to find the author for a story that was subbed (and rejected) years ago about space snails. Sound familiar to anyone here?

Hey, science fiction writers. A request to make.
Normally it's unethical to discuss a story we didn't buy. But years later, there's a "one that got away" I still think about, and I REALLY want to know who wrote it.
Did YOU write about space snails taking over the anglican church?
This story was submitted to Escape Pod sometime 2016-2019. In our old submission system (which means I cannot go back and get the info).
This one story delights me so much, and AFAIK was never published. But I would like to meet the writer and at least buy them a beer/coffee.
It was a science fiction story about snail aliens in medieval England! They were attacked by knights (like those manuscript marginalia)! The snails took over the kingdom and church! It ends with the POV monk admitting his love for his brother while being digested by the Archbishop Snail!
I'm pretty sure it never got published because that should be HELLA googleable.
Anyways, please RT this, in the hope that this thread might reach the eyes of whoever wrote that absolutely delightful story.
I hope we find this story/writer. And I hope you realize my 1-post summary barely touches the cool shit.
The snails remember everything they absorb/eat! This perfect memory is their (bullshit) justification for theological superiority! BEING EATEN BY ARCHBISHOP SNAILIEN = ASCENDING TO HEAVEN
