Hi Fellow Forumites,
I wanted to tell you all about a new publication a couple friends and I have decided to put up. We are all aspiring authors with a few credits to our names, so we decided to become part of the conversation about what constitutes good fiction. And since I've been a professional writer and editor in the science, technology, and medical fields for well over a decade, I decided to give this a shot.
Our publication is a quarterly online magazine called Empyreome (http://empyreome.com), which you might have already seen on The Grinder or Duotrope. We are planning our first issue for January 2017, and we also plan to publish a single flash piece each week beginning in January.
We don't pay much right now ($0.0025/word), but we're just getting started. If you'd like to submit something, you can check out our guidelines at http://empyreome.com/submissions.aspx. Please mention that you're a WotF Forumite in your cover letter.

Since we opened submissions just over two weeks ago, we've already received 48 submissions, of which we've selected 4 short stories for the January 2017 issue (there's still room for more!) and 5 flash stories for our Weekly Flash series (always room for more!). We're looking forward to more great stories in the weeks and months to come.
Cheers,
Randy

And thank you for the kind personal. I'll keep you in mind for future submissions.
For anyone who is interested, submissions for the January 2017 issue are closed. They will reopen for the April 2017 issue on December 1, 2016. Submissions for flash fiction are always open.

Thanks for the update. I may well have some stories to submit to you by December. I've only got three finished at the moment, one's awaiting a verdict here, one I *should* hear back on by the 15th, and one is probably going to be in limbo for ages.

If you are in difficulties with a book, try the element of surprise: attack it at an hour when it isn't expecting it. ~ H.G. Wells

Hi Friends,
Submissions are now open for Empyreome Magazine's April 2017 issue:
More info about what we're looking for:
- Empyreome is seeking original works of short fiction with up to 10,000 words (<7,000 preferred). Stories with 1,000 words or fewer will be considered for our Weekly Flash series.[/list:u:1nj617j6]
- We prefer science fiction and fantasy, but we will consider any story with a speculative element, including slipstream and well-written horror.[/list:u:1nj617j6]
- We like stories in which interesting people do interesting things and make interesting things happen. We do not like stories in which flat characters are merely acted upon by forces beyond their control, and nothing interesting happens.[/list:u:1nj617j6]
- If your story includes profanity, sexual situations, or violence, these elements should be essential to the story. Please do not send stories that glorify violence, use profanity without purpose, or depict graphic sexual scenes.[/list:u:1nj617j6]
- In general, if the stories in Empyreome were films rated by the MPAA, they would receive a rating of PG-13 or younger.[/list:u:1nj617j6]

Hi fellow forumites,

Just an update for those who are interested. The July issue of Empyreome is filling up fast, but there are still a couple slots left (preferably for stories between 3,000 and 6,000 words). Here's how to submit: http://empyreome.com/submissions.aspx
In addition to stories for the magazine, we are always looking for great flash fiction. We publish one story each week: http://empyreome.com/weeklyflash.aspx
We've been receiving over 100 submissions per month, so if you do submit, please mention in your cover letter that you're a WotF Forumite. It won't guarantee acceptance, of course, but it will make me look twice (at least) at your story.
I'm also excited to announce that we will be publishing our second issue of Empyreome magazine in the next couple weeks. It's been a pretty interesting ride so far. Thanks to all who have submitted.
Cheers,
Randy
