Lately I find myself staring self-publishing in the face. Like, literally. It's right there.
During my research, the thing I hear most often is, "Get a mailing list." 
I understand many of us are just getting started, but with all the winners that visit, I figure there should be a place where we can "follow" them. Mailing lists help authors reach their audience, and helps the audience read authors.
That said: I don't have one.   
 
But I've signed up for a few! Matt Dovey, Ken Liu... etc.
So if you have one - post the link.

Anyone who has aspirations for a long term career should start a mailing list. Even if you don't have anything published yet. It's free on mailchimp until you have a certain number of followers. Then as you publish things, make sure your mailing list link is displayed somewhere.
