tDotSpec, the Toronto-based published I'm part of, has these open calls in the near future
* Strange Religion: anthology of SFF stories that engage with religious traditions and themes. If your story has a genuine connection to either real or imagined religion, submit!
* Strange War: anthology of SFF stories of coalition in conflict.
Open for submissions until May 31, 2021 (and option to request a later submission)
http://tdotspec.com/submissions/
We provide personalized feedback on all submissions! Your story will be read by at least two people before it's rejected. Reprints welcome.
I'm the lead editor for Strange Religion, so you have to impress me if you want to make the cut 😉
Kickstarter for both anthologies is open now: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tdotspec/strange-wars-and-strange-religion?ref=ksr_email_creator_launch
Even if writing war and religion stories isn't for you or you aren't able to contribute to the KSer, please share these links on social media so these projects can be successful.

Go for it! I promise a very thorough edit. I guess in theory you could get the edit before submitting the religion story. I can't promise that would mean acceptance, but it would certainly help

How would that work timewise? If I ask you to edit my story would I need to wait for the second submission window in May?

Yes, you would submit during the second submission window. We also have the option for requesting a late submission. Don't worry about rushing your submission in. There's some flexibility on the size of the anthology. We will be accepting stories that we think are strong regardless of what submission period that are submitted during.
