Hey guys!
Just a reminder to not give up on finding a home for those HMs. After several rejections, I just sold my first HM to an anthology.
You just never know.

Awesome! I always think that HM stories and better have at worst good seeds, and potential to find themselves a home somewhere. I'm really glad to see yours finding itself one!

@scribblesatdusk Just read it, and can relate to it too. Really thought provoking. It reminded me of a scene in Being Human (UK version), where Annie the ghost is performing with a medium and her own mother comes into the theatre. She says something along the lines of "Losing a child is a unique pain, but if anyone could take away that pain I wouldn't want them to, because that pain is all I have left of her."
It's very close to the mark.

I haven't seen Being Human but this is very much it, though my MC makes a diff decision from Annie's mom. I've been wondering what kind of pain people are willing to put up with and why.

Sold a story to Kaleidotrope! It's a little story I wrote while playing around with prompts from the Super Secrets thread, actually, intended as a kind of throw-away fun exercise, but I liked how it turned out, and it had received some positive feedback from other markets before finding its home.
(I'm really happy to make a sale to Kaleidotrope, too, as they're a market that, for whatever reason, was on my want to crack list of markets.)
It likely won't see the actual light of day until 2024 though, so it'll be a while before I can share a link to it. Still, though -- woot!

of a sci-fi short I'm very proud of: "No Such Place as Nebraska"
They compared it favorably to "Aye, and Gomorrah..." which, well, that's... (!)
Just 1¢/word but a solid publication with great interviews, reviews fiction and art, since 2007!
@DonMarkmaker
@angelslayah Congratulations! Well done!!!!
“Stories are the collective wisdom of everyone who has ever lived. Your job as a storyteller is not simply to entertain. Nor is it to be noticed for the way your turn a phrase. You have a very important job—one of the most important. Your job is to let people know that everyone shares their feelings—and that these feelings bind us. Your job is a healing art, and like all healers, you have a responsibility. Let people know they are not alone. You must make people understand that we are all the same.”

I first encountered the publication when @wulfmoon drew some of us from the Forum to a seminar they were hosting on Zoom, during the Covidtimes; thanks Woofman!
Only my second submission to the market, but a story that I'd submitted thirty-eight other times... so... keep hammerin is, I guess, the moral there

@angelslayah Congratulations! Glad that webinar helped. That’s a great market, and you’ll get a custom illustration. Best present of all—it’s rare to get that in other pubs. And yes, persistence yields rewards. I never give up on my stories. Cheers!
