@kz_richards Eyyyyyyyyyyy congratulations! The first of many I am sure Smile

“Stories are the collective wisdom of everyone who has ever lived. Your job as a storyteller is not simply to entertain. Nor is it to be noticed for the way your turn a phrase. You have a very important job—one of the most important. Your job is to let people know that everyone shares their feelings—and that these feelings bind us. Your job is a healing art, and like all healers, you have a responsibility. Let people know they are not alone. You must make people understand that we are all the same.”

@doctorjest I bet! I started reading it, then tried the audio and thought--whatever I think the voices will sound like, will never beat how the Bard actually sounds. Brilliant.

A second small victory ? Another drabble, but a different market.

If only I could write something worthwhile beyond the first 100 words ?

I'll keep working on that

Thanks to all on your earlier congrats

@toddjones I agree! We feel the losses/failures/rejections, we should celebrate the wins/acceptances no matter how small ? at the same time, fully recognize my small successes are small potatoes compared to some of the other people's celebrations here

A little one for me too, a reprint of an old, out of print story, given the audio treatment over at Creepy Podcast:

https://www.creepypod.com/episodes/2023/5/24/the-bone-merchant-amp-the-island

This was actually the first short story I ever sold, six weeks before my first ever submission to Writers of the Future, and the magazine issue it was first published in went out of print in 2021. It's nice to see it back in the wild again.
