Great to hear. Yeah I keep more than that out at once! There are diminishing returns, I find, around 60!

@preston-e-dennett congrats! I recently sold my ~7th story, not as far along as you but it feels nice to sell something once in a while.

“Stories are the collective wisdom of everyone who has ever lived. Your job as a storyteller is not simply to entertain. Nor is it to be noticed for the way your turn a phrase. You have a very important job—one of the most important. Your job is to let people know that everyone shares their feelings—and that these feelings bind us. Your job is a healing art, and like all healers, you have a responsibility. Let people know they are not alone. You must make people understand that we are all the same.”

Thanks, Guys. This forum has actually been integral to my success. I learned more about writing and the business of writing here than four years in college. (Well, actually 3 and a half, I rushed through it so I could begin my career as a writer! grinning )

My story, The Apotheosis Algorithm (a SHM), has now been published in Gwyllion Magazine. (It is not free to read, you must buy the magazine). This is my first story that is available in hard copy, which I'm pretty chuffed about. Great feeling to receive it in the post, hopefully the first of many!

So very excited to announce the release of my first anthology of science fiction short stories! It’s called “Wild Speculation,” and it has ten of my favorite stories that I’ve published, including two award-winning stories (yes, my WOTF 2nd place winner included.) Already got #2 in new releases of sci-fi short stories on Amazon. Wow! Time to do my happy dance! Yay!

I've been (mostly*) on a writing hiatus this year, for personal reasons, but I figured I'd share a publication here in the meantime--subbed in the middle of last year, this one got picked up by Cosmic Roots and Eldritch Shores. It's a flash story, originally written in 90 minutes, then tinkered with to flesh out around the edges before it got published (with thanks to Fran at CRES, who proposed some really great changes to the draft before it was final--their editorial process is certainly different, but I also found it to be really positive).

Anyway, it's up to read here now--

https://cosmicrootsandeldritchshores.com/fiction-all/fantasy/a-promise-of-salt-and-sky/

I've also sold a previous SHM (the last one I earned under David Farland), which will be coming out in On Spec at some point in the future, though the date of that is currently TBD.

(* mostly, because in the end, you can't just never write, even when you're on hiatus. So I guess I'm just not writing much.)

That's good to know. Love a good editorial process. Can you say how it differed? Also could you describe what any individual suggested change was intending to accomplish?
