Very delighted to say that my first SF from WOTF has been accepted by The Future Fire magazine! It feels super poetic that this story(my first ever submission/success in WOTF) will also be my first publication ever.

Congrats! Post a link when its out if its possible Smile

Scroll down a bit, mine is the first story listed.

"Reset" is so odd, really, that only my sense that, well, if I like it, there must be an editor out there who'll snap it up, kept me going!

hmm, so I'm actually not sure this is the right place for this because

a) its not fiction and more importantly

b) its not a final acceptance

But this also doesn't seem to fit in the 'almost' thread either as that seems to be more 'personal rejection territory'

So anyway.... I guess this is the closest to correct. I posted yesterday in the daily progress that I hadn't written much fiction yesterday but I had written a pitch to a market for a non-fiction piece (genre related). And in the quickest turn around of the century - they actually emailed me back today to ask some questions, which I emailed back and answer, and then tonight they emailed me a 'green light' email. Which basically means they want me to write the piece for them. It's never *guaranteed* they will take it once you have a green light on a pitch but its 99.9% sure. You have to do something truly heinous to not then sell it to them, and I've worked with this market before and they're very up and up, on the authors side, so I have no concerns there.

Now I just have to actually write the piece. Darn.... 🤣

Hello, all!

I was fortunate enough to be awarded the Dave Farland Scholarship to Superstars this year. While there, I...

1) Pitched a novel to D.J. Butler of the newly-founded Ark Press. He asked for the full manuscript, saying he was "very excited" to read it.

2) Happened to be discussing another book of mine in front of the acquisitions editor for Blackstone Press. She then said "I want to buy that book when you're done with it." I made sure to get her card.

3) Had a friendly discussion with Mr. Cowan of Roan and Weatherford. Ended up talking about the novel I had put some words on the night before. His response: "I think I'd like to read that."

All in all, I'd say that's a pretty good week! Huzzah! Let's hope some/any of these pan out, but even if not, I feel success!

Also, I forgot to add this as the email came in during my hectic 'life' week. Not sure I am an 'estimable literary personage' but hey, I'll take it 😉

soldstory

I've just sold a story to Gwyllion Magazine, which will feature in their May issue later this year bananarama

The story received a HM from WotF and I'm chuffed to have found a home for it (it is a Wales based story being published in a magazine from Wales, so very fitting and perhaps gave me a leg up). I think it also goes to confirm what Jody (and Dave before her) have said about HM stories, that they are solid stories and stand a chance outside the contest!
