wotf054 A long and depressing streak of rejections for me has ended in style:

My story "The Long View" just sold to The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction.

My goal since WOTF27 has been to sell a couple stories to Asimov's or F&SF, so I guess I'm halfway to having to come up with a new goal . . .

Great sale = Big Congratulations = BIG THINGS TO COME !!!

wotf006 According to Duotrope F&SF has an acceptance ratio of only .17%. That means you're awesome. Good job!

Cause and effect?

Also, massive congratulations to Aaron and to Steve (and anyone I've missed recently; life is very busy these days).

Ah, one of the Big Three. Gotcha. That didn't seem obscure enough for a "too obscure" comment. Then again, the STNG episode (which is one of my favorites) didn't seem to have anything at all to do with the current topic... which, ah, makes it obscure. See? wotf022

Congrats vanaaron!! Awesome sale wotf010

In less cool news, my story "Broken Glass" is now up at Daily Science Fiction: http://dailysciencefiction.com/fantasy/magic-and-wizardry/jacquelyn-bartel/broken-glass

That makes two sales to them...I'm liking this trend!

Daily Science Fiction is NOT less cool news! I would be very pleased to sell to them. Congratulations!

Of course, two more and you'll pro out. Not the worst fate in the world, but I hope you've got a great Q4 in the works!

Congratulations, Kevin! But I'm afraid I have a lot of Hugo reading to do before I can read yours.

Now that the announcement's been made, here are the details of my aforementioned second pro sale, copied and pasted from my Facebook page:

Okay, looks like the contributor list is public, so I can share the news: My short story "Prospect of a World I Dream," one of which I'm especially proud, is slated to appear in Futuredaze: An Anthology of YA Science Fiction alongside work by Rahul Kanakia, Lavie Tidhar, Jack McDevitt, Nancy Holder, and Camille Alexa, among others. Big thanks to all the folks who read and commented on this piece in its infancy, including Jeremy C Shipp, Brad Torgersen, Dave Hutchinson, and too many more to name. Blog post forthcoming.

YEEE-Freakin'-HAAAA, Alex! Envy, envy, envy! If you meet Jack McDevitt out of this, I may have to add another "envy" to that list.
