I just had a haiku accepted for the spring issue Acorn. That probably doesn't mean anything to anybody here, but it's one of the top-tier haiku journals. Wahoo!
That's awesome (though I don't think anyone's surprised
); congrats!
And congrats Dantzel!
Publishing day is best!
Congrats Stewart! And yay for zombies!

So I've kept this secret for a while until the TOC would come out, but now I think it's ok to announce after heavy hinting on Facebook. I sold a story to Galaxy's Edge, edited by Mike Resnick. It's titled "Today I Am Nobody" and will appear in the May issue. I'll try to remember to post a link when I have one (but it will be a while yet).

Thanks Preston. The history of the story is that it's a line from the first chapter of my novel. I took it to a workshop in March (the novel not the short story) and a number of people liked that scene. Dave Farland suggested I try to take that scene and make it into a short story. But instead I sketched out a completely different story set in a totally different world and when I had one-on-one time I told him about it and he loved the idea. I didn't do anything with it and he brought it up at the second workshop where I had to admit I didn't write it and forgot about it. Then Rebecca had our usual October Madness Challenge and it was the first story I wrote. I clipped it down to a flash story and sent it to Flash Fiction Online where it made it to the top tier and got a nice long detailed rejection where they basically said it had too much going on to be a flash story. So I expanded it and was about to send it to Shimmer, but I sent it to Mike Resnick instead--which is a whole other story, and he bought it in less than three hours.

Oh and I forgot to mention Stewart provided lightening fast editing before I sent it off....which I'm convinced saved my bacon (tofu based, completely vegan friendly--in honor of the Donkey).

Tish, tish. Editing won't fix something that isn't already uh... fixed.
Never mind. Ignore me.
