Here's my Q1 Finalist:

A 17,000 word novella (approximately 100 pages in paper).

Patrice Hudson was a man of two worlds. The Haiti of his youth was a mysterious land where the village bokor used Vodoun to enslave zombies to his service, but his grandfather the houngan thwarted the bokor's schemes. In the New York of his adulthood, though, he knows these stories are all childish superstitions that he has outgrown.

But a letter from his mother shatters his confidence. The bokor has declared war on his familiy, and has stolen his grandfather's body from his grave. Now Patrice must decide which world he will follow and what he believes as he performs... One Last Chore for Grandpa.

Available from Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I'm still fighting with Kobo to get it there. (If anyone would like to preview a test copy on a Kobo and tell me how it looks, I would be grateful for the help. The Kobo desktop app seems to suck.)

Decided to make book one of my Gamers trilogy free on Amazon. It went free this morning around 7am and it's flying off the virtual shelves. Down to #30 on Science Fiction and #58 on Teens (it's a YA Dystopia).

Get it while it's free and help me try and pass Hugh Howey at #11 on the Science Fiction free chart! wotf007

My alternate history novel about the fire in the Great Library of Alexandria is now available in audiobook.

The greatest mystery of the ancient world remains the identity of whoever set fire to the Great Library in Alexandria.
One hundred years later, Heron of Alexandria - the city's most renowned inventor and creator of Temple miracles - receives coin from a mysterious patron to investigate the crime. Desperate to be free of the debts incurred by her twin brother, she accepts and sets in motion a chain of events that will shake the Roman Empire and change the course of history forever.

I think there must be. wotf004

I wrote this before I read about recent discoveries, but while researching it I was aware that it was thought there could be water in the dark craters. And so I sort of assumed it was there, I think.

I don't really need to say this right now But I'm getting excited.

I am very close to finally finishing my '12 NaNo novel extra chapters. With a couple of scenes I just thought of it's going to be longer than I anticipated. I'm still two months away from being done and I will be needing someone to help catch all of the typos and other nitpicks but I think it is my best writing. Of course I have felt that before and no one agreed with me but I'm going to be right one day.

Of course I will need a cover too.

So anyone know a good nitpick finder who doesn't charge a lot?

Well, I've been hoping to do so for months, but my HM is finally for sale! Now I'm going to be lazy and copy my book info from my own website. 😉

Jon Whyte is a kid born and raised on his family’s freighter Stardream as it carries cargo all over the solar system. On a yearly return to Earth Station, the Stardream is intercepted by a commando team of marines from Mars, who are ready to strike the first blow against Earth in a war of independence.

BONUS STORY: Four Minutes

A young single mother finds herself the target of the Men in Black.

Still busy writing, but did have time this week to put up a new story. It's a science fiction novelette.

Earth lies abandoned.

When the Makers left for the stars, civilization descended into ruin. Asp, one of the last remaining sentient cities, fights against the ravages of time, but his resources are dwindling. When at last he swallows his pride and seeks the help of the primitive peoples that remain, he learns the true meaning of courage.

The story can be found at all major online retailers for $2.99

http://www.amazon.com/In-Arms-Lachiga-Stories-ebook/dp/B00BXW7DKO/

In the Arms of Lachiga: Stories by Alex Kane

Contents:

"El Mirador"
"Headcase"
"Where All Roads Meet"
"In the Arms of Lachiga"
"Touching from a Distance"
"We'll Own the Stars"
"War Dogs"
"Moonbound"
"To Meet the Light"
"An Apocalypse of Her Own, One Day"

Most of the following stories first appeared elsewhere, in some form or another, and as such I owe each of their respective editors a debt of gratitude: "In the Arms of Lachiga," from which this book gets its title, was originally published in Heir Apparent: Digital Science Fiction Anthology 4—my first professional fiction sale—and received editorial comments from Christine Clukey, who helped make the piece far better than I ever could have on my own; "El Mirador" appeared in the first volume of Thomas K. Carpenter's Mirror Shards augmented-reality anthology series, from Black Moon Books, while "An Apocalypse of Her Own, One Day" was published in the series' second volume; "Headcase" and "Touching from a Distance" both appeared in Matt Edginton's The Glass Parachute, an anthology of science fiction stories from Villipede Publications; "We'll Own the Stars" can be found online at Villipede's website; "Moonbound" was also first published online, at Michael Paul Gonzalez's superb electronic magazine ThunderDome; the remaining three stories, "Where All Roads Meet," "War Dogs," and "To Meet the Light" have never been published elsewhere.

The four-story arc beginning with "Headcase" and ending with "Touching from a Distance" is something I've referred to over the past couple years as my "Lachiga continuity," for lack of a better term, and began with the titular "In the Arms of Lachiga"—my first foray into the somewhat nebulous but fertile ground of postcyberpunk literature.

I hope you'll find, as I did, that there's still plenty to be explored in the realms of virtual reality, augmented reality, and both trans- and posthumanism.

Okay, I don't have anything E-pubbed yet even though I'm working on it.

But I want to say two things.

There are novels here that sound very interesting and I want to get them but I have a bad habit of forgetting when I'm on my Nook--definitely frustrating.

Second is that I think I have decided to come out with a five story set they seem to like instead of each one by itself. That way I only have to do one cover. I have two stories ready to go but another thing I keep forgetting to do is look again. I've looked over quite a few pics I could use I didn't find one I wanted.

But maybe I can do just the one as I said and do a text cover instead of a pic. Or use an Eagle pic since I may call it Five flights of the Eagle.

Very pleased to announce the second book in the Alexandrian Saga--Heirs of Alexandria.

For 300 years it was believed Alexander the Great had no heir.

The Roman armada descends on Alexandria. Friends flee, allies bicker, and foes multiply in the night. The fragile city-state teeters on the brink of annihilation. As the naval blockade looms and palace intrigue thickens, Heron must find the heir of Alexander the Great or nothing will stop the Romans from overrunning the wondrous city.

The story can be found at Amazon, B&N, KOBO, Smashwords or other online retailers in ebook format for $8.99 or at Amazon in paperback for $19.99.

B&N - http://tinyurl.com/cwv8a99

Finally bought two I've been trying to remember to buy.
"Avarice"

And
"Desperate Upload"

And I bought them off of B&N.com even though B&N is not listed on the "Desperate Upload" post.

Hopefully more later. I also ended up getting another E-publisher's book and a couple Pros for $3.00 each.

Wow, Niice.

I've been wanting to get since I fist saw it, months ago but kept forgetting to get my Nook so I can download straight there.

I like that idea...a while back I read a book with the same basic idea of police work in a fantasy city and loved it. Can't think of the writer right now but he got his start with Strange New Worlds followed by a few full Star Trek books. He branched out. I keep hoping for another but haven't seen any--which doesn't mean there aren't any. If yours is half as good--it looks like it is at the very least half as good-I will want more. But with that said, It's going to have to wait its turn. It might be tenth in line. I'm usually pretty stick about forcing a book to wait but now and then I give in to the pleading and/or demanding to be read. So wotf017 it could be sooner than I'm thinking.

Oh I will also put it on my blog which may not get many readers for it but than again I'm on Goggle+ so maybe a couple.

I don't know how sells are going but ralan.com has a free section to advertise E-books now.

On Smashwords a set of five stories.
