Looks great, Annie! I may have to give this one a read. Can they be read out of order, or would it be best to read Witch Hunt instead? I'm dragon-crazy at the moment; been playing a lot of Skyrim, and recently saw How to Train Your Dragon for the first time (brilliant, fun little film).
They can be read in any order.
Mmm, Skyrim. The main reason I haven't gotten more work done lately.
This is awesome. I can't believe I haven't found this topic until now. I've been looking for books to purchase on my Kindle, and for some reason didn't think of looking here. That being said, I'll be going down the list and purchasing every title I'm interested in. Why not give my fellow writers first crack? Just purchased A Simple Movement by Brad Torgersen, and The Scent of Sunlight by Annie Bellet. I will definitely be back to this list after every book I finish.

Storybundle? It's odd when Carl Zimmer tweets about these kinds of things.
Thanks, Bard. That story was one of the ones that got me into Clarion and is still one of my favorite stories that I've written.
The third Gryphonpike Chronicles novella is done and published (now with more dueling!):
Description: The mute elven archer known only as Killer. Azyrin, a half Winter-orc shaman and his human swordswoman bride, Makha. Drake, the charming, swashbuckling rogue. The fireball-slinging pixie-goblin, Rahiel, and her mini-unicorn, Bill. These are the Gryphonpike Companions.
A magical scabbard and a hundred year old story send the companions down into the caverns beneath the Barrowlands. Surviving the caverns and finding the legendary rapier will test Killer’s friendship with the roguish Drake. Far more than half-truths and forgotten stories lurk in the dark beneath their feet.

For the like two of you playing along, these can be read in any order. While they reference past events and such, I'm trying to make each stand alone.
I'm proud to announce the release of my novelette,
The Thing Down the Road, by T. L. Smith
Beware of road-side freak shows! You never know what you’ll discover, or do, on the other side of the glass. You might go too far to ever return home.
Del detested these roadside displays of hapless creatures, mangled by fate or bad DNA, but it’s the only way to quiet his restless children. They stop to see “The Thing”, but what he discovers in this cage exceeds his expectations as a Xeno-biologist. Del rescues the creature and is taken on a harrowing tale of the lengths a man could go to, out of love, compassion, and insanity. He befriends this strangely charismatic captive, and sympathizes with the captive’s motives, fears, and final act of humanity.

Ouch, my image didn't post... and my avatar is gone, after all that work trying to get it posted...
Your image doesn't work for me right now.
Your description is very intriguing! I'll check it out. I've got a HUGE "To Be Read" stack, so it may take a while.

Thanks Martin, now if I can figure out how to get the cover to actually show up. I'm usually good at computer stuff, but this one requires a lot more... code?

copied it to my host (again, just tell me if I should remove things)
Do you mean your avatar here on the wotf/iotf forum has vanished?
Your hosting site may not allow hotlinks (Flikr or tumblr are good hosting sites), your image may be too many kb, etc?

THANKS for the helping hand. That's what I was trying to do. As for my avatar, I had one reduced to the right kbs, and still have a copy of it stored somewhere. I'll have to try uploading it again. Ewwww, fun.
Thanks Soulmirror. You got my bookcover posted, and I found my avatar and reposted her.
Just needed a little push in the right direction.

*sigh* Skyrim. A game you should put down before it consumes you.
Now, off to play League of Legends...wait...DRAT!

Awesome! I don't suppose they are available in epub, Brad? If not, never mind, I can probably convert them with Calibre, I'll have to see... Ray of Light especially is at the top of my must read list.

Barnes and Noble don't take international credit cards, so I bought it on Kindle in the end.
I shall worry about how to actually read it later.
I've converted books before, on my old PC, I'm sure I can figure it out again. Though I have to say, I still like paper.

Eli-gator, do you have a smartphone? Amazon has a free Kindle app for Android phones and iPhones (perhaps others as well).

Nope, I don't have a mobile of any kind. No signal in the swamp.
But not to fear, it seems I was worrying unduly. My Calibre software is already set to handle kindle books--I must have bought one after all since I got my new PC or something--so it was easy to load it and convert to epub.
So I've started reading it. So far, so excellent!

From what I gather this is a place where we can advertise our published works. If I am wrong then sorry for posting here. I have several stories and works available, 3 free and one paid. They can be found on all the major ebook stores such as Kindle, iBooks, Nook, Sony, Kobo, and Diesel. Although anyone seeking my free kindle books should look them up on smashwords.com. Amazon won't let me list them for free. Smashwords does have all of the formats all in one place.
My first novel length book:
Legacy: A Father's Tale
available in print as well from Rogerlairdwriting.com
The free books are:
Zombie High
A different look at a zombie outbreak.
Of Love and Vengeance
A play developed for my first novel that stands as a story of its own.
Poetry by Roger Laird
An anthology of poems I wrote when I was in high school.

Brad Freakin' Torgersen! I'm sure you have plenty of fan boys and fan girls already, but now you officially have a fan gator too.
Ray of Light doesn't deserve a Nebula. It deserves a Hugo and a Nebula!
What a stonking story! Chaplain's Assistant was good but this one was a-rockin' and a death-rolling good.
Gonna have to read more now.
