I'm the only one who thinks this is the best SyFy produced show ever? The place reminds me of an expanded version of the bar on Tattooine.
Off hand I don't know it.
So I don't know if I would agree with you.

It's pretty good if you can ignore some issues (like that the arch would fall down in the state it is in and they have Star Trek forehead alien issues). It's basically a western in structure, with some Romeo and Juliet action tossed in. Fun to watch so far, but I don't think I'd rank it above B-5, Firefly, Farscape, Person of Interest, Torchwood, or even Battlestar Galactica (the new one).
I'm enjoying it, too, but agree that it doesn't come close to the quality of storytelling in B5 or Firefly.
Torchwood and Firefly are a couple of favorites, I was just a wee boy when B-5 was on.
Still, I think Defiance has upped the ante on Syfy. I like Star Trek foreheads!
As for the structural stability of the arch, they mention in a couple of episodes that the city was demolished and the current city is built on the ruins of the old one. So the arch being there makes little sense anyway.
Sounds intriguing. And Firefly-ish.
Wait, just got a mental picture maybe I have heard of it, what is the premise?

I tried to give Defiance a fair shake, but it didn't take. I think I got through an episode and a half before I ended up doing something else while it was on, and missing the rest. I will say that SyFy's recent productions (well, series-wise...they still have some godawful original movies) look pretty solid, but Defiance just didn't grab my interest. It's probably fine, just not my cup of tea.
Plus, new Venture Bros. have arrived, and all other TV pales pales in comparison. For a while, at least.
Oh dear. I need a signature.
And an avatar.
And probably other things I don't even know about.
I feel naked.
I thought it had huge potential. However the show felt ‘forced’ to me. It started out really rough or perhaps choppy. The story concept was intriguing, but some of the story lines a little too of base from the world they were in. I would watch it again mostly because of the ‘what if’ potentials that tend to surface when I watch something.

Kosh, B5
I'm enjoying it right now.

Glad to hear it. I was very fond of the show, beginning to end. It wasn't perfect, but it made good on its promises as a series and took things in interesting directions.
