I hate showing up to a place with my hand out, but I was hoping someone might lend me a second set of eyes for my first 535 words. Of course, this is for the present submission window, which means there's a fire involved and that it's time-sensitive. 😓
What little I can say is that it's speculative fiction. The full tale should land near 12k words, but that's a very rough estimate. I'm still revising pretty heavily.
I'm mainly looking for general impressions. Does the story intrigue you? Are you compelled to read further? Your impression of the characters? That sort of thing. But you're certainly welcome to share anything you feel is relevant.
