OK, I'll answer my own question in part. If the size of your work exceeds the contest limit and the level of feedback you request is (full spectrum), then you may be asking more than a simple human 'savant' can handle.

But, does size matter? To me, any good fiction would be like the consumption of a carefully tenderized steak. The end justifies the wait, or the means.

I'm, myself personally, less concerned about the strict nature of the rules of the contest, seeking rapport with writers who have an eye on science fiction / hard science fiction and fantasy that is palatable in a rational world.

May I make a suggestion? Could we give a 'descriptive' assay of our work in terms of the genera, so that, 'like' readers could concentrate their efforts' toward their respective gifts? I've attempted as much, but the use of the term fantasy is way too broad and leaves the potential exchange unequal from both perspectives.

Should we share synopsis' in a secondary forum?

Should we demonstrate our talent with prose in, our unrevealing, posts?

Am I talking to my self because I like the sound of my own voice... Yes!

I have a talent. That talent has not been measured... Because that talent grows in the application and re-application of the poetry, you and I, feel deeply within us. All good fiction must be measured by its poetic content and value. No good deed goes undone.

Would it were that I could be King. I would deny that throne. My place is to describe that throne and the many imaginings that describe its place in our world.

Above: My place in the universe, perhaps yours? Scribe...

All things come out in the end... The only question is, from which end will they emerge?

Hi, Mike,

The contest's anonymity requirement makes certain things a little complicated when it comes to swapping. If one goes for the letter of the rules, we're not allowed post excerpts from our story anywhere the judges might read it, and we're not allowed to reveal the title. In practice, though, we tend to keep the identifying details close to our chests.

So while it might be supremely helpful if I were to say, "Hey, I've got an 8200 word hard SF castaway story that deals with neuroscience, mind-sharing and motherhood. Anyone want to take a stab at it?" - the reality is that no one will because we're worried about trashing our anonymity.

Generalities are OK, though, say - "Fantasy novelette - anyone game?"

Does that help?
