I don't normally do this but the opening of the story I am doing is still giving me fits.
I think I have it pretty much okay but a couple of crits would help to know if I do.
I think I may have the rest of the story down. Or at least as much as I can. But it isn't giving me fits.
So anyone want to exchange first one thousands words?
It's two genre mashed together. Something different for me and not so original but I think I gave it a good twist or two. We shall see.

I now have 1700 words of a supernatural horror / medieval heroic fantasy on which I should appreciate the advice of anyone who is more familiar with the genre than I am. As many of you will know I seldom stray far from hard fantasy and this one has more than a few surreal elements already.

I'm writing very fast (by my standards). Now 3,000 words, maybe half-done, and in my inexperience of the genre I feel it might be good. The problem is it might not be as good as I think.
It started out as a candidate for one of the current Flame Tree calls, but I'm beginning to feel it might turn out better than the story I've been holding back for this quarter, as well as too long for Flame Tree.
