I’m a member from the old forum, I used to frequent it and submit to the contest for a couple of years. Many years later, I’m trying to get back in the swing of things now that I’m able to write again.

I missed the last deadline since I didn’t want to rush the ending and editing of my story, but I’d like to start preparing in good time for the next quarter.

Anyone want to swap critiques? My story is in the 7-8k range, second draft.

If you’re interested but not an omnivore, just PM me some hints of your palate by author names or genre and we'll go from there.

My tastes are generally WotF stories...

I'll look it over in likely - under a week. Just tell me what type of feedback you'd like. I'll PM you my e-mail.

Oh, I don't have a story to swap, so if that's a for sure qualification, just let me know in the PM.

Not the AM.

If you're looking for another critique I have a sci-fi story (not intended for the contest) I could swap you in the 4-5K word range. Fair warning, it's fairly corny, so I'd be looking more for story/sentence structure type feedback (so I can carry what I learn over to my next story) rather than feedback on my hokey plot and thin characters. I'm just getting back into writing after a bit of a hiatus, so the creative plot/character juices are apparently not yet flowing. Smile
Let me know if you're interested.

Sure I can give it a shot, it’ll probably help me work off some rust as well. I’ll PM you my email.

Thanks, no hurry of course.

Good luck and have fun at ComicCon. If it’s half as nerdy as it seems, it ought to be a paradise.

Simon,

I'm sorry I didn't make my 1 week deadline. A friend of my wife passed away in KC, so she's flown out there and I've been on solitary watch of my 5 year-old all week.

I haven't forgotten. Will read asap!

Sad news, I’m sorry for her loss. I hope your wife and everyone who knew her friend can find some comfort.

Thanks for the update. Take care, and take your time of course, my story can wait.

Before I make any edits of significant size, I’ll be finalizing editing notes where I write out exactly what I want my editing to accomplish. I’ll just let those notes rest and work on a new story in the meantime.
