Many threads little time. I submitted a half-canned, half-newly baked story for Q1. I'm 3k into a story that may end up being my Q2. We'll see. I have many pots on the stove.

I'm a noob and just found this forum and this thread but I'll join if you'll have me. I already have a new story in Q1 and a new one ready to go for Q2. (I've only written two career total!).

By "noob" I mean I started writing scifi short stories in 2018 although I've been doing technical writing for decades now. Laughably, I knew extremely little about this contest when I submitted Q1 and only this week learned what a big deal it really is.

Good luck chuckt - I hope you get something above an R. It is nice to feel top writers see something in your story.

I'm in as well, now -- a new story for Q2 to go with my new one for Q1.

This year is feeling awesome to me, I've worked more, read more, and written more in the last six months than I have in a great while. I feel like either this year will end up being tremendous, or I'll end up keeling over from the effort of it -- but I don't think I'll regret it, no matter how it pans out.

(*Addendum: I may regret it, just slightly, if I do the keeling-over bit.)

For me it the last 7-8 moths. Something has changed.
I think it will be tremendous as well. If we keel over... well...see you on the floor. wotf017

This submitting every quarter and writing new stories has only sped up the process. I have a chart for a minimum word goal for the year instead of just project by project. So far so good.

Making a submission this quarter is not going to happen. My recovery from knee surgery has progressed well but it's impact on my sleep has been substantial. A lack of uninterrupted sleep leaves me with very little energy to spare much less be creative. wotf014

Hopefully another month and I'll truly be back to normal and good to submit for the next quarter.

That's okay, OldDarth. Health comes first. I hope your ability to rest improves quickly!

Heal Well, Good Sir.
I am scheduled for back surgery in two and a half weeks. So, we shall see if I am writing fit for Q3. Healing and lack of sleep can wreck writing. Take care.

No, no--I've submitted to the first two quarters. wotf019 Not even close to knowing what my Q3 will be yet, although I have a few possibilities in mind.

I'm signing up for 4 in 36. I don't like to commit to things I don't think I can achieve, and starting the year it looked like I'd enter 2 or 3. Now it's looking like I can enter all 4. Also, a couple of Wulf Moon's posts inspired me. Smile

I'm in for Q1 and Q2, and I know what I'm writing for Q3 - I should have two stories to choose from. Editing my novel currently, but when I need a break I flip to brainstorming and researching and plotting for shorts.

I'm in for Q1 and Q2, switched back to writing a crime novel at the moment. My intention is not to think about Q3 until late May. 4 weeks ought to be plenty - hadn't it?

That's the hope, aye. I'm not sure what to write for my Q3 yet. My brain keeps wanting to gear toward another weird western, but I refuse to do that again. Neither of my weird westerns has gotten higher than SHM, and Dave apparently gets inundated with them--probably because he published a weird western short story he'd written in the anthology a few years ago.

Weird western? That sounds interesting. Might have been tempted to have a go at one of those myself, but for you saying about inundation etc.

Whatever I go for, I might try a humorous slant again.

It was looking a little iffy for me at the end of Q2. I cut it tight again, but I am still in with 2 of my 4 in 36 submitted. Now: back surgery, recovery, re-write novel, and get Q3 written in the next 3 months. wotf005

I'm a bit late to jump into this, but I'm in. I submitted stories for Q1 and Q2. Right now I have a draft for another story and a partially written additional story.

There is no 'late to jump in' with this one, so long as you make the submissions on time. wotf011
