Doth Thursday cometh?
Already?
~ J V Ashley
I dunno Thought I’ve been getting my HMs or Rs about a month and a week after deadline, but maybe I’m wrong or Q1 is different because of the ceremony and stuff...just wondering.
R: 3
HM: 4
In my experience it’s usually closer to 2.5 months from the deadline. Q1 usually does move faster (slower- I had it backwards) because of the gala but I don’t expect results until March, maybe April.

You had me worried there. If a 'Thursday' is close at hand, I need to stock up on brownies and hide under the table. Maybe I better start stocking up just in case.
~ J V Ashley
Doth Thursday cometh?
Probably not for awhile. Q3 and Q4 have the fastest turnaround time. Q1 is generally slowest.

Doth Thursday cometh?
Dang it, got all jittery for a second. Hopefully it's not like last year though. Looking through the posts, it seems like it took extra long to get results. And so far, Dave has posted nothing on his blog about where he is in the process.

So you're saying I can go ahead and eat this batch of brownies and bake another when the actually Thursday shows up?
Never mind, I already ate them.

So just an FYI, I've been in contact with Joni and she said "we will have results in March, maybe sooner." A lot quicker than I expected, but yeah, apparently that's a thing? So um... prepare to twitch and all that.

Ok, yes, that definitely sounds worthy of twitching. Only two weeks left 'til March too.
Thanks for the update!

I just attended Superstars with Kary English. Don't start twitching just yet--she's still reading Q1 entries, which means Dave doesn't have the whole batch of potentials sent to him. Best of success when he does get them all!

It's cool to come here at least once a day
Information injection in a cerebral way
Every little tidbit is hoovered in a blink
Filling in the blanks helps me think

We all want to win so we spend time on line

It's baby day! Every day is baby day for me, these days. On the one hand, it makes a great distraction! On the other hand, it... makes for a great distraction. Congratulations on the twins(?) How old are they now? Is that your entire litter, or are there more wee ones lurking under the stairs?

Yep, twins! The two wee dragons are the entirety of my litter. They were due on January 3rd, but one of them decided to come early, so we've had them around since November 16th (although the first five weeks or so had them in hospital). Got to bring them home December 23rd, and they've been running me ragged ever since. My husband helps when he's home, though, and other family members come to stay and help for a few days every so often. It's often very hard, and I don't want to do this part again, but I'm definitely glad I could do it this time. My husband and I had been trying to have kids for years.

A month and a half early!!! Sounds like they are quite healthy, though, since they are "running you ragged." Also sounds like hubby travels, or he helps out when he gets home at night from a grueling day at the office. Good to family around to help--they are usually a Godsend.
Since you were trying for years, did you go the fertility injection route? Hence the twins?
While I know you are exhausted, don't let the writing be a chore but make it a relaxation point, one that removes you from everyday existence and into a world ripe with excitement. Hey, twin dragons wrecking the house is a perfect place whilst the King and his sword are away campaigning

. . . It should be pretty soon on the judging. Give it another 2 or 3 weeks for our first notifications.
It is always our slowest judged quarter because we are so busy getting the big gala event for last years winners together.

Yep! The twins are pretty healthy overall (a bit congested and croupy at the moment, but it's mild and manageable thus far). They're properly baby-sized now--not sure exact weights at the moment, but I'd be assuming each of them is around nine to eleven pounds. Nathan tends to be about a pound heavier than Frank.
My hubby works 40 hours a week in a call center, but helps me when he gets home. I don't know what I'd do without him; he's super helpful and supportive.
I was taking medicine to help counteract the effects of PCOS, but didn't actually need in vitro or anything like that. I just happened to ovulate twice, which surprised everybody in a good way.
That's kind of what I'm trying to do. I'm taking things at a comfortable pace and not stressing overmuch when I have to skip a few days... or weeks... It is getting to the point where I need to focus more on this quarter's story again, though.

Sorry to say this, but I think this is a case of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing. I talked to Kary last night. She's still reading Q1 submissions! She was away at Superstars Writing Seminar, just like me. Lost a week in reading time doing that. We both were surprised by this statement. Miracles do happen, but when someone is still sifting through the submission stack, there's no way to announce winners. Dave still has to do his reads on what gets sent up, and make his determinations. And he was at Superstars as well.
I'd reset my sights, folks. I'm guessing you might get notice just before the workshop week. I think they like having it completed just before because all the judges are there to give out the finalist assignments. Just my guess, but I recall noting the timing in the past.
So go write! It will come when it comes. Don't waste precious time on something you have no control over.
My two cents.
All the beast,
Moon

Thinking Thursday only causes me stress if I let it. I never expect my stories to make Finalist (still shocked that one of them did). That gives a certain freedom, because if I don't expect to place in the contest I can just sit back and enjoy the ride. I expect the rejection (because everything even up to SF is still a rejection) and am pleasantly surprised if things go differently.
