Yes, congrats, @valiant! This is a huge accomplishment. @rschibler, you and I have already chatted and you know I was rooting for you... but you are a FINALIST! Woot woot!!! So awesome.

@wulfmoon yeah that one is great for catching pacing and long sentences.
I did a Super Secret on it, and quoted this book, I believe. It's a good one.

Well, I'm out of the running for this quarter -- fingers crossed for our remaining trio!
I'm sorry, Doctor Jest. We were all hoping for a grand slam. But do look at my post about third person vs. first person, and what Joni said to me when I won. Dave picked your story as worthy of winning and being in the anthology. They simply don't have room to put eight from each quarter in the anthology. But you were there. NYT bestselling author and contest coordinating judge David Farland said your story was worthy. And if you did it once, you can do it again. As so many from the Forum have proven.
There's still the potential for being a Published Finalist. I believe three Finalists were chosen to be published in Volume 37, our own Brittany Rainsdon being one of them (thegirlintheglasses). So it's not over yet if you told Joni to leave it in. And there's still three more quarters of results yet for Volume 38! Plenty of time to write your next winner!
Regardless, we are proud of you for making Finalist. That's a stellar achievement in a contest with thousands of entries from around the world! May your next swing take the ball over the bleachers!
All the beast!

I'm sorry, Becky. I've watched your dedication and growth in the SUPER SECRETS Workshop, and in the Forum as a whole. You have worked hard in output, applied yourself to learning, sent out your stories, and have steadily proven that hard work yields good rewards. You've worked your way up to this honor just like stairsteps, and once you know how to reach the top, you know the way back up there again.
Your record speaks for itself, but I'll speak in behalf of the entire Forum. WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF YOU! AND OF ALL OF OUR FINALISTS! WELL DONE!
You know the path. You will do it again. I've already seen the story I believe will be your winner. : )

P.S.: By the way, it's fitting my 2000th post should be with this post to you! We've both worked hard supporting members of this Forum, as our many posts reveal. Thank you for your tireless efforts to help the writers here by always being open to critique their stories. That is a tremendous service to members, one that takes time away from your own writing. I certainly did leave it in--it will either get picked, or it won't, and either way it's not going anywhere! Besides, I have new stories to write--leaving it in the mix for published finalists is a really great excuse to forget about this one for a while, and move onto the next.
