Have results ever come out this early in the month? Looks like they came out around 20th last year. Sorry I’m new to waiting game.

Results vary from quarter to quarter, and the gala is in September this year but there have been other issues so who knows? (There was a time where Q1 was unambiguously the longest wait, but Q2 and Q3 have been running longer lately, too. Q4 is generally the quickest because they need to prep for book launch and gala afterward, but Covid has thrown off everything.)

I’d guess we’ll have results by the end of April. Hopefully! I subbed earlier than usual and in a few days it’ll be my longest wait ever.

Well, let's see. I submitted in Q1. It was my fourth time submitting to WotF. Deep dark secret? I can't think of any. How about this: I'm crazy competitive. Anytime there's something that can be interpreted as a competition, I have to win, even if it's just a hike, where I'm the only one going fast. You know the guys who, when you're bowling, are genuinely happy when you get a strike? I'm the opposite--the one whose face is all scrunched up and doesn't talk to you.

I haven't a clue as to how many times I've submitted.

My dark secret is I kept seeing posts about chocolate and tequila, so I tried it once, it was actually not too bad.

I subbed for Q1.

This was the 16th time I’ve submitted. Oh gosh. Q2 makes 17.

I don’t really go in for secrets (unless they’re Super Secrets), and I hope to meet many of you in person, but a weird fact about me is that I drink room temperature everything. Beer, soda, water, etc. I don’t like cold drinks.

Always warm drinks... interesting.

My Q2 was WotF sub #27.

8 of my last 10 subs were WotF.

My dark secret, I suppose, would be after having too much tequila and chocolate I've had to permanently give one of them up. He said, eating chocolatingly.

My Q1 was my 12th submission to WotF.

Something probably hardly anyone knows about me is I have a collection of things that makes a sound I like. This ranges from an actual instrument to a piece of plastic that makes a good twang against the edge of my desk. Small things amuse small minds.

Had to research my inbox for this. My Q1 & Q2 V38 entries are my 6th and 7th submissions to the contest, and they span a ten year period. Trying hard to be more diligent this go-round.

My dark secret? I, uh, might talk to inanimate objects on occasion. Things like saying hello to trees I pass while walking. Apologizing when I bump into a chair. So far, they've not spoken back, which gives me hope that I'm not certifiable quite yet.

Good. You will need that kind of determination to win this, Reuben.

Well, let's see...

I submitted in Q1. It was my 18th time (working on my 20th now).

My "deep, dark secret" is that almost every story I've sold is based on a character that I've played in either a chat-based RPG or a tabletop RPG at some point. I can think of two exceptions, and one of those is inspired by some scenarios from one of my favorite RPGs, and the other I can't technically talk about for several months.

My deep, dark secret: Even though going a single day without writing makes me feel sick, writing itself is not sufficient to keep my butt in the chair. I require a crutch; something able to offer some temporary landing point for my easily distracted mind while still motivating me to stay at my desk punching the keys.  This all-important crutch? My secret is that I can't stop wondering about that authority-less author from Farland's post. Was it my story? What happened to that story? Was it given an honorable mention? A semi-finalist slot so he could provide feedback? Was it rejected? Gaaah! This is why I can't have nice things (such as newsletters with writing tips).

It’s understandable. They had a slow start because they were down a reader at the start of quarter due to family matter. They have full staff for Q2 so far.

I was glad to be invited to Q&A though. It was a nice perk for completing workshop.

I see Cray already reported this, but I’ll confirm from additional sources. Due to family emergencies with our first reader, Dave reported that he only recently received the culled Q1 stories. I am told secondhand that he stated it will be at least two more weeks for results. So you can relax for a bit and get back to your Q3s! Cheers!

A possible peep from Dave? https://mystorydoctor.com/writing-with-authority/

Or is this a recycled tip?

It's recycled, but from 2014--since it sounds like Dave is in the process of reading Q1 stories, it was probably both!
