Wow.
Congratulations to everyone and commiserations to anyone who is disappointed. I understand that feeling in the bottom of my soul. Keep writing, and as a dear friend recently told me, BELIEVE in yourself and your goals.
Woohoo! I’m so so happy for you, Becky! I’m betting on a win your way soon. Hope I’m right.
Congratulations guys! And here’s to hoping for those silent lurkers (hope they can shout soon).
We can do this guys! One more quarter!!!

I got an HM. First ever. When I saw the email I was like...wait a minute...that can't be right, 'cause I suck. Right? Everyone knows I suck. I mean, *I* know I suck, and that's basically everyone. So what's with these "judges" saying I don't suck? I don't know how to process this!
Anyway, I can resubmit an HM, right? I REALLY like this story and there's definitely room for improvement in it.
HM in my inbox.
Each story is an arrow. Every quarter is a new round to discover the finalists for the competition.
Keep aiming precisely on that bullseye. Don't look at the competitors standing around you. Nock your arrow, shut the world out, sight down the spine to the bullseye...and pull off a clean release.
This is the way.

If you get a HM or Silver HM do you have to rename your revised story before submitting it again to maintain anonymity?
Nope. You become once again just a number in the system to first reader Kary and coordinating judge David Farland.
Contest coordinator Joni is the only one that links up the numbers to names.
Revise away and send it in. That worked for KD Julicher.
Or write a fresh one. That worked for Wulf Moon.
CONGRATULATIONS!

Cute smiley, but I won't agree with it. It is not a bad thing to get an 'R'; the worst thing is to miss a quarter.
Getting a rejection just means that we should improve our writing. I will do so.
Congrats to all who placed in the second quarter!

I got an HM. Slightly disappointed as I thought this story was better, but this was my third entry and I now have 3 HMs so I guess I should look on the positive side.
And it’s come just in time for me to submit it to that other place that closes today.
I got an R. But there were some problems with my story, I only submitted it to actually start submitting really. I was still kind of hoping for an HM though.

Congrats to everyone that got HM and above - and for those that got an R, I say don't feel so bad and keep writing. I thought some of my early R's were better than my HM's but it took me a while to work out what WotF are looking for.
Haven't seen the result for one story I crit for this quarter that I thought was very good. Fingers crossed for...

Do you guys go for the certificates? What do you do with them?
For a time I considered myself a wizend writer warrior who didn't want the certificates... That time was short-lived. I work damn hard on every story and am always happy (even if not knee-jerkingly) with my HMs and above. I've framed four of my certs and have them on my writing wall (with some mag and book covers). My first HM, my semi, and my two Fs. The rest I have in my writing filing cabinet with various stories, hints/tips that I've printed, and class notes from the past.
