Anyone else have a sphincter tighten up a bit after reading that they are trying to get Q2 done in the next two weeks?

Time for twitching! Boy, I just can’t focus on my Q3 entry right now, with the butterflies in my stomach...

Heh. I had a long talk with Joni yesterday, and she didn’t drop a clue about Q2 results, alas. I did discover she’s been enjoying pictures of Disgruntledpeony’s baby pictures, so there is that. Smile

I believe Joni sent out an email a week ago stating that results would be in about two weeks.

I just started with Q1 this round, and it was unavoidably delayed by shutdown. But was it common, before, to receive word previous to the following quarter's deadline?

No, it wasn’t (at least to me. V37Q1 was my first time to enter this contest) The judging was completed much sooner (I mean, if we do get our results this week) this quarter compared to Q1.

Results range from 2-4 months. The average is 3, and that’s fairly consistent (although Q4 results tend to be faster because of their deadlines and Q1 tends to run longer because of the workshop and gala). I’d say we’re getting close to results time, but it could be a few weeks yet. Hopefully Joni was right and it’s this week!

I hope she is doing better.

Quick question: last November I was informed my story received an honorable mention several weeks before the actual results were announced—is this typical? Have the HMs gone out, or are we expecting them with the flood of Rs (and Joni’s special calls, which I refuse to think about at the moment)?

I don't think that's typical, no. Most of the time the R's, HM's, and SHM's go out on the same day, usually over the course of hours.

We've had all kinds of different results releasings over the years. Lately tho they've been all at once (hours, not days/weeks).
Personally I like the first round results method. If you're right out you know it and can send the story elsewhere, etc. It's the wait that kills ya. wotf001

It is typical to receive the email before the blog post goes up, however, because they wait until the finalists are sorted to post the blog with the winners.

The official announcement tends to come well after the initial wave (or waves) of Rs, HMs, and SHMs. The finalist stories get sent to the judges after the initial round of Rs go out and the finalists get their call. Semi-finalists tend to find out later (although I think they've been finding out at the same time as Rs, HMs, and SHMs lately). Only after finalists learn if they placed or not (which can take anywhere from a couple weeks to a month or more depending on the quarter/how busy the judges are) do the official results get announced, and that announcement doesn't generally come immediately after finalists are notified either.

Basically, regardless of when we get our results, the official announcement will take longer. wotf019
