Thank you, Victoria. You were just like Candice in a prior year when the open call was over for the Super Secrets Workshop. You didn’t let that stop you, and did all the requirements and exercises on the side. You also took other workshops of mine to dive deeper. Just look where that kind of determination took you! Well done! You did the work, but I thank you for calling me your sensai and magic sword. That’s what mentors are, and we appreciate those that remember the assistance given. I’ve had mine, and I’ll always be grateful. May your next Joni call be wonderful, but regardless of the outcome, you are already a winner. You have validation from an NYT bestselling author that what you wrote is worthy of being published in a bestselling anthology! Such knowledge can give your belief in your abilities much power. But one more belated round of congrats for the many successes the forumites have had to share here in Q2.  Especially to the two Finalists: Disgruntled Peony and Empress!  I have only an inkling of an idea of the blood sweat and tears that must have gone into such an achievement.  So well deserved.  I hope you enjoy these moments! 

P.S. Just for posterity, I'll take my HM this quarter and run.

P.P.S. . . . Yeah, it took me this long to figure out how to log into the "new" board.

I'm still in shock. It doesn't feel real. I'm absolutely giddy, though!

@empressed I have a pretty good idea of how you must feel right now (I've been there twice, myself) but I just wanted to say that I'm super thrilled that you made finalist, and I know that you can do it again. Keep doing the thing! You're awesome.

Congratulations to all! How did our Writers of the Future Forum fare?

WE HAD TWO FINALISTS THIS QUARTER! WOO-HOO!

To make top eight out of thousands from around the world entering every quarter is a stellar achievement. You both hit the bullseye. David Farland deemed both of your stories as worthy of being in the anthology, and he's an NYT bestselling writer and knows what he's doing. Be proud of that accomplishment. You have powerful validation that your writing is top notch, worthy of recognition, and worthy of being in a bestselling anthology. Dave chose YOUR stories as the creme de la creme. WELL DONE!

Of course, the eight finalists go out to four judges. Only three can be chosen. Each judge has their own tastes, their own biases, their own beliefs, and while I know Dave would like to see all of these stories in the anthology--it's why he chose them--there simply isn't room to do so (but sometimes they do have a little extra room, so the chance at Published Finalist is still there).

How did we fare in the final judging?

Well done, Liz! We all know how hard you've been working at achieving this recognition for your writing--you've come close to winning several times. You stayed the course and never gave up, and perseverance like that does yield rewards. Enjoy the wonderful blessings that come from this world-renowned contest, not the least of which is attending the Writers of the Future workshop in Hollywood and spending a week being instructed by some of the best writers in the industry. We are very proud of you and wish you much success in your writing career! WELL DONE!

IN ADDITION!

The WotF Forum had numerous Semifinalists in this Q2, at least one I know of for the very first time! And Honorable Mentions and Silver Honorable Mentions beyond measure! Okay, it can be measured. Somebody please go measure it and post, I simply did not have time. But I read every one of your results posts, and I'm pleased to see so many working hard to perfect their craft, and getting recognition in the form of certificates to validate your writing. And even if you didn't get a certificate this time, you completed a story, and you sent it in. That takes courage. Everyone starts there, completing that first story. After that, we'll spend the rest of our lives leveling up.

Congratulations for taking the journey, may you stay the course in spite of necessary growing pains, and may your writing goals and dreams come true because you did the work. NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

As you can see, there's a good reward for your hard work.
