[Thursday warning bell sounds, but no way is it THE Thursday]

The earliest results are expected based on what first reader Kary said in her fyrelite session is...July 1 for the top eight [edited] entries to receive a phone call. July 15 for the rest to receive emails with placement notifications. And by the end of July, all will likely be known regarding Q2 results. And yes, I know both of these dates are Saturdays, but Saturdays can be Thursdays if the conditions are right...

@physa Thanks! I had to miss Fyrelite due to an influx of family. Listening to Kary go through first pages is such a treat and so informative. I hate I missed it. But thanks again for the timeline info.

Top 10, nice. Keeping my fingers crossed. (for myself , of course, but if not me , then for others in the forum )

As far as I know there's still only 8 finalists - but there's now 10 semi-finalists.

@physa I thought she said about two to three weeks until results (on June 17). Did someone else hear specific dates?

no specific dates are known as far as I'm aware. I just made estimates based on the sketchy information, ;). Basically, there doesn't seem to be a need for avid twitching until June is over. Usually, results are not released until finalists are called twice. So, having results is not the same as releasing results if that makes sense. 

I have frozen the cookie dough in individual cookie servings until July….

Amusing, horrifying story: Two days ago my phone suddenly popped up with 38 voicemails that weren’t there before. I had two unknown voicemails and one was from Joni trying to reach me in April. 

Thankfully it was just to discuss the V39 gala attendance but I was of course mortified that I never got that call and if it had been about winning I wouldn’t have gotten it. Joni reached me by email and I’m sure would have called persistently if it had been a win. Phew!

Okay, I submitted my Q3 so results for Q2 are welcome to come out any time now  . I also quit my nightmare job -- already have an idea of how that's going to become my Q1 vol 41 entry ?. On to edits for Q4!

So here it is.

The main tweak for me was the flour. If you want more traditional, wipe out the whole wheat and germ and go all all purpose. That's a safe bet.

When you cut the butter with the knives (I use butter knives, funnily enough), don't grind it to dust. Nor when your mixing and folding. There should be little chunks of actual butter still in there after they are cut into triangles.

Refrigerating is important.

Cranberries can be substituted for dried - other things. I recently made one with a combo of blueberries, raisins, cranberries and cherries. It's hard to detect the differences tho, so all cran is good. I'm unsure about chips (chocolate, PB, cinnamon) because they have sugar in them which behaves funny. Try it if you like.

@tj_knight I can’t wait to try this scone recipe. It looks quite different from any of the ones I have made and I feel like that’s going to be a good thing, especially that you’ve included whole wheat flour and oats!

Okay, being ahead of the game is no good. My Q3 is in, my Q4 is basically done. Now I'm just pretwitching Q2 like nobody's business. I need to go back to deadline chasing.

Huh. Rejection on Submission grinder looks like a q2 entry by num days waiting. But I don't see smoke signals yet.

I just got my quarter 2 illustrators results—semi finalist. Nothing from Writers yet but usually they come close together.

@clfors congratulations! I seriously admire those who enter both the illustrators and writers competition. I barely manage to get an entry into the writers!

Does anyone know if someone has ever won both the writers and illustrators competition? (not necessarily same quarter)

I just got my quarter 2 illustrators results—semi finalist.

I learned a new word, freudenfreude. The feeling of happiness for and enjoyment in the successes of others.

Congratulations and thank you, Cherrie, for today's dose of freudenfreude.

The word is an apt description of the attitude of forumites.
