I'm in!
The kids had an awesome time dragging out every single Barbie we possess, and they kept themselves busy while I polished things up. The breakfast table is strewn with Skippers and Chelseas. I regret nothing!
Good luck, wordsmiths! There's still some time!

I'm in! Even if this comes back as a straight-up rejection, I'm proud to have submitted at all. Most of the story came together the last two-three days. I hope it's not riddled with errors, but also I don't want to look at it anymore since it's out of my hands now. Time to think of new adventures...
To anyone still writing, you got this!
Ploonk! The sound of my Q2 submission plopping into the pool so that it might rub elbows with those who will actually win the quarter. Let me grab some vicarious nuzzles! 🤣
Good luck everyone!

"There are 49 minutes remaining to submit this."
That's about as close as I ever want to get, but I did it! I just started the story yesterday—inspired by a dream I woke up from on Saturday—and somehow banged it out. I wrote nearly 5,000 words today, by far the most words I've written in one day.
I'm in! I wasn't able to finish the story I had planned for this quarter, so I edited an old SHM and sent that in. I'm so much prouder of the edited version, though, so hopefully it does better than SHM! All the best to everyone who submitted!

I submitted last night after an hour or so of gutting 1,500 more words, because my wife said the story still had way too much going on. I'm sure I messed it up somewhere, but got it submitted. Worse that can happen is an 'R' and that won't kill me ... or will it?

I'm happy to report that I got my story submitted, phew! I only got back from holiday on Sunday morning and had lots of stuff to get done and I was so tired from jetlag that I couldn't get much revising done. So I got most of it done last night. I eventually went to bed at 2:30am UK time. I just had to get it done.
An interesting thing happened about 1am... I realised the title that I'd had on the story for the last year didn't actually make sense for the story. So I had to quickly figure out a new one fast. It's not great, but it does relate to the story.
This one also happens to be my longest at 6393 words. It might also be my best. But we'll see.
Now to relax tonight and play some Borderlands 😎

"4 Laws of Storytelling" (YouTube reflections on the craft)
Managed to get mine in at 4 AM with a few hours left to go this time Hopefully those delirious last minute edits made sense. I suppose this is what I get for deciding to change story a couple of weeks before the deadline. I spent over a month trying to write a story that had a really cool idea but required me to drag myself kicking and screaming to write it. Then I shifted to a story I actually enjoyed writing, and managed to bash out a 8000 word draft in less than a week. There's a lesson in there somewhere.
Anyway, enough rambling, best of luck everyone!
Good luck to all of us who entered this quarter! Working on my Q3 story now, as well as the worldbuilding for a novel I'm writing.
