@hermionelee it's a bit early for twitching. The Q1 certificates are just now being mailed out. My best guess is that sometime in June is when we should start twitching, Smile

Hang in there!

All the best,

agree with @physa - last year q2 results went out jul 10 and in 2023 they went out Jul 5

Unless things have dramatically changed, you can probably stop twitching for now Smile

@hermionelee I'm right there with you in the twitching tent 🤣. I know I shouldn't be since results probably won't come out for a couple more weeks yet, but I can't help it. Best thing to do is take the twitching to the keys, but I seem to be finding it extremely hard to focus this quarter.

Write, write, write. Don't twitch. Writers write!

WotF has lit a fire under my writing chair for some years now. Haven't won yet, but I've written two novels and 33 short stories. And still writing!

110% agree with this sentiment. Use WOTF as a catalyst, not as a distraction from the writing desk 🤓 👍

[I nod at the hobbit]

["nice day for writing, isn't it?"]

[the hobbit smiles and nods]

[the hobbit returns to her writing]

[I find a comfortable spot to set up]

[pull out my laptop and try to concentrate]

[now, what sort of story do I want to write?]

[sees the hobbit disappear and notes the other one patrolling the tent area getting serious - looks forlornly at all the sticky notes he's placed on the writing board....]

[offers encouragement to the one placing sticky notes all over a large board]

[you got this @gideonpsmith]

[sends positive writing energy down the hobbit hole where typing can be heard]

[write on @craydimensional. Your turn will come]

[stares at the story in front of me]

agreed. I'm not so much worrying about q2 results coming out anytime soon, so much as realizing the time for writing q3 is evaporating

I too have been curious about my Q2 submission. Remarkably, I haven't really had time to dwell or fidget due to my world-building and development of my Q3 submission. I suppose there's a lesson in there somewhere. Or a distraction. I'd go looking for the takeaway, but unfortunately, I'm an avid procrastinator. So, perhaps, I'll puzzle this out later. LoL

@hermionelee  I completely understand your anxiousness. I too twitch regularly and I've been on the Illustrator side of the contest since 1998. Last year, somebody with my EXACT NAME won 1st place and at first I thought It was me and I was about to lose it- then the possible although "very highly improbable" news settled in on me that it was ANOTHER Jose Sanchez from Costa Rica (which in all the years that I'd been involved in the contest, I NEVER saw his name even once on any of the quarterly results. It seems tgat he just jumped in with a parachute from nowhere. I even wrote him to congratulate him but he never replied. I guess when people reach notoriety, its really hard for them to be humble (and genuine). Then, to add insult to injury, another artist wins the following quarter ALSO from Costa Rica....hmmm possible but also strange the coincidence. Very unusual indeed.

Anyway, I have won 6 Honorable Mentions and 2 Semifinalist (with one critique from coordinating judge Ron Lindahn).

So, its not like nothing has happened BUT it is very hard to get 1st place. Nonetheless,  I am persistent and optimistic.

Regardless, I'm still trying. Maybe one day...

GOOD LUCK for you as well. Hang in there.

Jose Sanchez

I turned my first 249 word vignette in this week.  Not sure I nailed the last sentence twist for the topic. It was so hard to write something under 300 words with a character, in a setting, with implied desire, sensory descriptions, and tension.  WOW.

I hand it to all the writers that create these flash fiction tales.
