I'm doing revisions on my story right now. Hopefully will finish tomorrow. The midnight PST deadline on the 30th will be 8am 1st July for the UK, so I can still wake up really early before my day job if needed to finish the final editing. That's not the plan though as it'll be my busiest day of the quarter and I start at 7am 🤣

Got my first HM last quarter woohoo

I had intended to submit for the present quarter earlier in the submission window but pushed it back. I needed to adjust some thematic elements.

I'm happy to report that those elements are mostly finished now. I had a rather epic day of editing/revision, which I only broke away from for a writing class. Looking at you, Martin!

I only lack proofing the final 6 paragraphs or so, then I'll be in for the quarter!

I have to say, I'm pretty pumped about the world building in this one. Hopefully, a certain group of judges will likewise enjoy what I did with this one. triumph

Good luck everyone!

I’m in.  I’d planned on one more pass just for typos or grammar, but I realized I reached the point where I couldn’t look at it anymore.  This is my longest short story yet and took the most effort.  Hoping for the best.

Good luck to those already in and especially those still fighting.  Remember, winners have been written in a day.

I'm in. Entry #48.

When I started entering, we used to tie our manuscripts to rocks and a chain of us would throw them all the way to California.

Best of luck to everyone.

For some reason, I didn't see the original email for this thread, so have been missing the updates. Oops. Good luck to everyone who's entered. I just subbed as well! Fingers crossed. Smile

I'm in! It's kind of cheating, though. Basically, my current story is almost ready for the second draft, and certainly not ready to be submitted by midnight tonight. So, I decided to check over my story from last quarter, which got an RWC. I saw that it wasn't double-spaced, and I had no idea if that was sufficient to be rejected or not, so I fixed the formatting and resubmitted. We'll see what happens next, but I don't have anything else to submit, and I really want something in for this quarter!

@shounenbat When you get a RWC, the "WC" part of that is a list which tells you the most common reasons a submission receives a "RWC." I've also received these comments on a past submission. I looked back over them and didn't see any mention about proper spacing. Since proper spacing is a submission requirement, it seems like not meeting such a prerequisite would result in a simple 'R' or maybe even a 'Disqualified.'

All that being said, I'm wondering if you didn't submit a separate file which actually had the proper spacing. I sometimes save stories on different devices and have to be careful about where I'm applying edits. Perhaps something like this happened for you and your submission?

I only use one device for my stories, so I don't have a version that has correct spacing. I'm surprised I didn't get a straight R for such a glaring mistake, to be honest. I saw the list of comments, and there were no formatting issues listed, true, but I decided to resubmit anyway. Like I said, I didn't get my new story finished for this quarter, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Finally, I'm in for Q3!

That was a slog of a last night of editing. I had to skip the Word Read Aloud step I usually do because I have to go to sleep now to wake for work in 6 hours 🤣

I'm in! Once again I only managed to settle on a story to start writing a couple weeks before the deadline so it's been a wee bit of a rush. Too tired to continue editing because I also need to sleep before work tomorrow, but either way I'm happy with this one.

Best of luck to all who entered!

I’m in! I didn’t like the story I’ve been working on for the last few months, so I wrote a new one over the weekend and submitted that. Good luck to everyone who made it in for the quarter!

OK, I'm in. Didn't realize I was pushing so close to the deadline.

Just in case anyone is wondering, June has 30 days. You'd think I'd remember that.
