Beth, so let me get this straight . . . five years of Novembers and 3 years of Decembers? You've been submitting for eight or more years now? Wait. 2011 was a January. That makes it almost ten years or more.
Actually, that was just the electronic submissions (I didn't keep track of dates on the paper subs--I just filed them away in a box!). Q4 2007 was my first submission to the contest. I missed the next quarter because I only had the one story at the time, and then I submitted to Q2 in 2008 and haven't missed a quarter since. I'm not sure what it says about my writing that I also haven't made it past HM in all that time, but making sure I don't miss a deadline has caused me to keep generating new stories even when I'm busy. Thanks to the Goals four V.38 thread, this year I'm working on drafting my stories earlier than the week of the deadline, so that I have more time to revise and hopefully improve my writing (and maybe my placement in the contest too!)

Last year, I think I got my finalist call the day before results came out? I think.
That was the case for me in the last two quarters I was finalist (Q1 last year and Q1 this year). But the only thing the same about WOTF results is that they change.
That said, while I expect results before Thanksgiving this week seems early, did someone see Dave say something?
