I'm in for Q4 now, too!

Just submitted! I'm not too confident on this one, though, as it's a little more experimental. Only time will tell, I suppose.

Some really great winning stories have also been experimental, it's always worth going with your gut and just writing something you love. Fingers crossed for this one!

I was on trajectory to finish Q4 sooner but then my 9 year old son broke his arm and I got temporarily derailed while we recovered. 

I have my first draft finished and now it just needs a run through for edits and maybe a go with my first reader if I have time. It’ll make it in on time. I did write two other stories this quarter but this is the one I want to put in for WOTF. I’d feel good about winning with this one! 

Q3 was great! Anyone else amped up for Q4 as if holiday festivities have suddenly come early ???

I'm still working on my Q4. I got an insight into how the climax scene should go this morning and an idea for the resolution. Looking to make people cry! Most likely I'll be writing on into Friday.

Submitted to Q4. Worked really hard on this one. Lots of help from previous winners, friends, crit group, Wulf Pack, and the Super Secrets.  Hoping this one will do better than my Q2 and Q3 entries.

In at the last minute. Not my favorite story I've done, but my favorites don't seem to be what does well, so  

My story is finished! It is my new favorite of all my stories. 

Tomorrow I’ll run through it for typos and then submit! I’m excited

I'm in for Q4. I got a story I really like returned to me today and decided to enter it into Q4 so I can spend more time on my current story in progress which I feel has a lot of potential. Good luck everyone!

Finishing up draft tonight. Debating on whether to take Joni's advice and enter one of my HMs from a different judge to give me time to run this one through my writing group

I'm in! This quarter had me all over the place. I started three or four different stories. Glad to have something complete to submit!

All subbed up for quarter four! 

I was working feverishly on a fresh story for this quarter but it didn't quite come together in time. So, this one is just a bit of a shine-up on one of my earliest entries;  I'm just glad to have something in!

I'm in with a six-times-rewritten previous HM.  

Like Donovan, it's one of my oldest stories. Originally written back in KD Wentworth's time...
I had to update the technology, you know, as smartphones have since been invented.

I'm in. I think this is the earliest I've ever subbed. Guys you still have 12 hours to go. That's time to write/edit a whole other story to submit somewhere.

Usually, made by burning green wood and leaves to get lots of smoke, then covering/uncovering to yield puffs of visible smoke as a signal. I believe they can still be used as a kind of survivalist thing, because they don't form naturally, so a smoke signal is one way you can alert people to the fact that there's a person in need of assistance if you don't have other means of doing so.

And....I'm in!

This wasn't the story I originally planned to submit. That one didn't feel quite ripe so I'm leaving it on the vine for a while. Did you ever have a story that wasn't quite coming together but was clogging up the pipeline? I need to write something new. Best of luck to everyone.

@sandy usually I find when a story is persistently there but not coming together easily it’s because I have some sort of internal resistance to where the story needs to go. When I dig in and get them out they are generally my most painful and my best.

OK, I'll edit my post (never good to do any editing on the day you submit, but here goes).

When smoke signals were the only thing.  

I'm in.  I don't know if this is any better than what I've previously submitted, but it's the first story I've written where I didn't find the first draft absolutely appalling when I sat down to revise.  So either this is a sign of progress, or I've just lowered my standards.   Sending happy thoughts to those still struggling to finish.

I'm in! I wrote this story pretty quickly a couple of months ago (been working on my first novel since then!), but it does a lot that I think is cool while also being one of my shortest stories, so I'm really curious where it's going to place.
