Finally! After working on my first original story for the last three years, I can finally say that I've made a submission to Writers Of The Future! Here's hoping, and best of luck to everyone involved!

I submitted! I haven't written fiction in over a year (job change, death in the family, temporarily moved around the world and then back again), and I had pretty much given up on writing as a passion, let alone a career. And then, I was trying to sleep last week and a thought popped into my head, "the deadline for Writers of the Future is coming up" and all of a sudden I just needed to write. I broke out my dusty writing laptop right there in bed at 2 in the morning and wrote 600 words, and then over the weekend, wrote another 10k, and then after a first reader critique, managed to bang out another 3k in editing last night, and somehow was able to submit with two hours left.
This contest saves lives y'all.

Congrats. Great that you got into the flow of things and finished a tale. That is a huge accomplishment. Then to submit it too, another big hurdle. Good luck with your story.

Congrats on your first submission. Great contest, awesome forum, and wonderful free workshops. You wrote a story (beginning, middle, and end) that is something to celebrate. You submitted. Double-celebration. Good luck on your entry.

I just got a form rejection from Clarkesworld (I’m a firm believer in aiming high, lol 😀 ). Honestly, I hoped for personal rejection as I’m nowhere near the level of their stories plus the story I wrote is more for other markets (namely here and Beneath Ceaseless Skies). But I’m not going to lie, I thought the story I sent is the best one I’ve written so far and the form rejection shook my faith in it a bit.
Clarkesworld is a top notch market and hard to break into. Beneath Ceaseless Skies is a great market too. Both have a fast response rate.

I think for BCS it’s about a month, so while it is fast, I didn’t have time to send it there. But I will do so, once I get my results 😀 .
I got in at close to the last moment for this one.

In for Q4! I made some miscalculations about my availability to work my current story, but I got something else in at the last minute

sure! But only calls about your car's warranty expiring... 😉
(if not in the US you might not be subject to those... but I get one of those at least once a week)
