I’ve browsed around the site and I’ve read the contast rules. I haven’t found a list of genres that are allowed or not allowed. Are there certain ones that we are to adhere to, or is it anything goes?

looks like you found the umbrella terms yes - reading the contest volumes though I had originally wondered if there was a preference for a specific subgenre like urban fantasy vs epic fantasy or space opera vs space fantasy vs scifi military vs near future etc, and I've never been able to make a rule that stood up to the next volume ie it seems its more about the quality of story once you go beyond the big groupings. Others may see other patterns or preferences but I think its generally broad just not outright horror and no body horror. The horror seems to be dark fantasy/dark scifi/dystopian rather than real horror.
