I love it!
I recently subscribed to Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine show (bacause I saw it mentioned here) and I think my Q4VOL28 story would be a good fit because it has no profanity and is family oriented, but with a nice twist at the end that is too good to not be published somewhere(spoken by an unpublished wirter about her story which is like Mother love for the ugly child).
My Q1Vol29 submission is SF and more in style with what I've read in the anthologies.
My hat is in the ring! I posted the story this morning, Priority Mail, delivery confirmation, no signature required.
Holiday cookies and libations for everyone! And may we all meet triumphant at the workshop.

Just submitted my final entry.
Tried something a little different than anything I've tried before. It'll probably fail spectacularly. But oh well. From this point on, I'm done!
Good luck, Annie. I wouldn't mind losing to someone who's in her final quarter of eligibility.
And, just because I had my entry done so ridiculously early, on Saturday I did three illustrations and decided to waste the IOTF coordinating judge's time with them.

And when does your last piece get published? If you submitted on Jan 1st then you could get a story into Q2 eligability.

Thanks, guys. The next published story of mine (and the one that will DQ me) comes out via Daily SF on the 28th of this month. So no sneaking anything into Q2 for me. But that's okay. I'm ready to move on. We'll see if this final entry can go the distance.

Spectacularly is the only way to fail. Bold efforts succeed more than timid efforts.
You know all this, I'm just reminding you.
I've decided that the odds are I won't hear anything further from Analog this year. Assuming they reject the story that I have there, it was going to WotF next. But since I don't expect an answer this year, I'll go to my fallback story. I like them both, but the fallback has one element that makes me a little nervous for the contest. But oh well, it is what it is.

Well, my entry is in. Good luck to everyone. Now comes the months of speculation. Or at least I hope it will be months.

It's about transgendered unicorn vampire lesbian artichoke salesmen!?
Hmm... I think there's actually a story in that somewhere.
(edited to add - Of course, the real question is this: are the artichokes vampiric lesbians, or the transgendered unicorns? )

The way I read the sentence... "artichoke salesmen" is the real object of the sentence, and everything before that is an adjective or used in an adjectival fashion to modify "artichoke salesman". I hadn't considered that any of the adjectives were modifying "artichoke".

I've just submitted my Q1 too.
It's been chomped, digested, and now excreted into the system, and is hopefully floating merrily down river in the direction of KD.
No doubt, when she gets it she'll go, "Urggggh! Not more gator dung!"
I can but hope one day she says otherwise. Maybe eventually my offering will be received more like mature compost and she'll notice a lovely garden sprouting from it.
Not sure it'll be this time though. I shouldn't have eaten all that Christmas turkey.

I'm in! I'm in! Whew! And four whole days before the deadline. That's my earliest submission in several quarters. I've got very high hopes for this one guys. I think it might be one of my best works. I polished it up so it's nice and shiny. I'm sooo itching to move past the HM barrier, get to higher ground and explore the silver HM dimensions, or even better the Semi spheres. As long as I don't get a straight reject, I'll be happy.
I wish the best for you all! May the best story win!

Excellent idea, Kyle! Rather than just sending it out there and hoping mother nature will do her stuff, next time I'll try actively planting some seeds in it, a bulb, maybe even an acorn.
It's true what they say, you can learn something from every deposit.

Come on Baker, don't give away too much about your Q1 entry--Lest you be disqualified!! *wink*
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Hi, all,
Gotta make this a quick one as I'm still travelling for the hols...
In general, when should we expect to hear something for Q1? Ballpark estimates are fine. THis is my first time entering, so I really have no clue. March? Do rejections come out first, then HMs and stuff?
Thanks!

I've only been entering for a year, but if the past is any indication it can be any time. Sorry, not much help--but we can probably expect results to be a lot like the last few quarters where results come rolling in around 2 months (give or take). The only thing is that Q1 falls right in line with the time the people that be will plan the workshop (In April). My guess is that might slow things down too.
I really don't know, but that's my guess.

True that, Annie: if the whole point of this thing of ours is to go pro ... Then you've reached that and via the way most likely to assure continued pro'dom: multiple sales! As lovely as one contest-winning story is ... it's one story. You've improved on that with multiple sales, so ... Congratulations!

I feel like such a rank amateur here. I was so excited to get word that my second submission ever was accepted into Q1 and then I read these threads where people are writing and submitting like crazy. I am thinking I need to pick up the pace. I guess I need to start buying energy drinks by the cases, work 21 hrs a day instead of 15, and get to work.

Congrats and good luck, Annie.
In unrelated news, for the first time ever, I've managed to get my submission in before the final day, despite the stalwart opposition of the holidays. Good thing, too, because on the final day, I have plans... (Aaaaand I can't get the beer-drinking smiley to work for some reason. Oh well. Imagine it here.)
Oh dear. I need a signature.
