Yes, congrats Tina, Marina and Steve. Well done!

And, good luck next time to the finalists who didn't make it. I like the quote from Kevin J. Anderson in the press release -- you certainly didn't make it easy for the judges!

They were an exceptional group of stories this quarter. It was hard to choose the winners.

Hmmm, don't think I've congratulated Steve.

These are the Steves I know, I know.
These are the Steves I know.
These are the Steves I know, I know.
These are the Steves I know.

Some of them are Stevens...
"But most of us are Steves!"
They all have their own hands.
But they come from different moms.

I tried to find thin on youtube, but to no avail.
Need Stewart to find it.

My absolute, heartfelt congratulations to Tina (my psychic twin!), Marina, and Steve! Words cannot express how happy I am for you. And Tina, I'm doubly happy because now you get to give that speech!

And a huuuuuuuuuge thank you to Joni for shepherding us through this most difficult quarter. And to Dave for stepping up to the challenge under difficult circumstances.

As for myself and all you kind people who want to express condolences, I mean this from the bottom of my heart... My Mom survived cancer surgery two weeks ago and my brother survived 4 cardiac arrests, all within the span of 3 days. Don't feel sorry for me, 'cuz I already won in the ways that matter most to me.

But if you really do want to express condolences to me, here's what I would ask, if Brad can forgive a little threadjacking for a good cause: donate to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life that I'm walking in later this month. Do it for my sister, diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Do it for my Mom, diagnosed with colon cancer two months ago. Do it for my sister-in-law, a five year survivor. Do it for that person in your life who matters to you, and who was struck by this miserable disease.

Do it in memory of K.D.

It doesn't have to be a lot. Every little bit helps. But here's a little something extra: for every $10 or better donation, I'll get a luminaria. You can dedicate it to K.D., or to someone important in your life. You just let me know who. I'll get them decorated with rockets and dragons and wild horses and all sorts of things in the spirit of K.D. and this community that she gave so much to. And after the relay, I'll post pictures of your tribute here.

This cause matters to me a lot. That's why I added it to my signature a few months back. That's why I'm highjacking The Thread That Never Ends. I hope you'll understand. And I hope you can spare a donation.

UPDATE: The link was broken. I fixed it. And you folks are awesome!

UPDATE 2: If you order a luminaria and you want a particular picture on it, you can send me an image file when I send my thank you email. I'll print them up and glue them on the bags.

Putting this on pg 129 if anyone missed it on 128.

Ah! It turns out the generous lurker is no lurker at all, but rather our own international man of mystery, Alistair Kimble! Thanks, Alistair!

My sister is seeing the donations roll in from forum members, and she's astounded. You have her thanks as well.

Okay, I can post in the right space now....still on holiday....

Congratulations to the three winners!!!!! And all the other finalists - I expect to see your names at the top again!

Martin - I want to donate. Couldn't read through all the posts though. Can you email me where to donate and I will try to do it later today or soon after, next time I can gain internet access. You still have my email I hope?

Oh, sure, she says that, folks, but then she makes a donation before I can even see this message! And with that, we're up to $500!

Martin - I used Facebook. wotf007

Wow! Q2 is done?? I shudder to think what tomorrow will bring. As Kary said, the new Thursday is Monday. Or, as last week's bloodbath showed, maybe every day of the week has returned? Glad to know your alter ego shares my psychosis, Kary. wotf011

For some reason, I am picturing DF, dressed as Zeus, riding onto the field on a fiery black destrier. Lightning crackles from his eyes. A basket strapped to his back holds his lightning bolts. And thus will destruction rain down upon the wicked and good alike...

And somehow I picture you in little white gloves with a cup of tea in one hand, and wearing a matching dress with a bustle.

Nope. Top half of a Victorian Permanent Artillery uniform (with hat!) and blue and white striped pajama pants with a pair of officer's gloves and bunny slippers.

Ah, yes. Bunny slippers. De rigueur around here. Ought to be part of the uniform, in fact.

I'll ask Bob Writer to fill out a few requisition forms. In triplicate. Sounds like his sort of thing.

So then I figured... If a non-winning Finalist is an excuse to plea for donations to Relay for Life, an Honorable Mention ought to be good for a reminder, at least...
