Has Martin gone back into hiding?

Maybe. I saw him lurking earlier . . .

Well, since Jeanette posted a pretend April Fool's joke, I'll do a real one.

Q1 volume 29 is alive. Happy Resurrection Day!

I just can't let this sucker fall too low on the page. I just can't. After the awards ceremony then maybe I can let it go.

Please, in this holiday season be generous with your forgiveness.

Dear Sir,

How is it that this Farland chap, or Wolverine, (or whatever he calls himself this week) is able to keep his job? If other people in real jobs were this incompetent they'd have been sacked by now.

I've submitted to this little contest of yours several times now and received nothing but rejections. Incompetence! How many times does he have to get it wrong before anyone says anything? I don't wish to keep submitting, but my niece (yes, the one married to a colonial and living in those United States of yours) insists that I continue doing so. She seems to believe it will help keep my mind active.

The last time I saw such incompetence was back in good old WW2 when the Americans finally decided to join the fun several years late. By then, of course, we'd done all the hard work and your troops arrived just in time to clean up and spend the next 60 years making films about it.

I tried watching some of those films, but there was nary a Tommy to be seen, not even in the background. Anyone would think you were the only ones over there.

But back to the matter at hand. This Wolverine doesn't seem to like my fiction. I mean, where could I possibly be going wrong with:

a: Incredibly accurate WW2 military historical fiction from someone who was actually there.

b: 90,000 words of said story.

c: my incredible detailed and descriptive writing. I once spent 6 pages describing in detail how a sten gun was cleaned.

Frankly, I'm against revolutions and mutinies. In WW2 several of the troops in my trench wanted to mutiny against the commanding officer for negligence. But after I had a few of the blighters shot for treason I was able to hold onto my command.

This, however, is different. I'm now calling for this Farland chap to be overthrown and replaced by someone with a modicum of talent. I'm far too humble to ever put my own name forward, but should I be asked I would accept. And then the contest would have some real clout.

Yours sincerely,

Brigadier Sir Charles Arthur Strong (Mrs.)

p.s. - I might let this interloper chap stay on as a slushreader. I'm far too busy to read all that rubbish.

OH MY! I was thrilled to see good old Q1-29 having a bit of a reunion. I wish I could do more than visit at this point but have embarked upon a new career and have many lectures and tests to create. Once I'm through having my nervous breakdown I will return with fresh material to be rejected.

Long live Q1-29!

It was a joke of a joke you made in another thread (starting the Q3 thread and later you said something like "Oh you think this is real? April Fools....or something like that")

This time next year? I'm sure it will have 'gone off' by then! I was only hoping to start one new career ... not two. But we all must eat. I've been doing little writing lately (which makes me grumpy). But, first things first. I'll be teaching one day a week (for 7 1/2 hours) while still playing part-time pharmacist and searching for an agent. I hope to send in another story this fall/winter. Since I've added Word (though still have my WordPerfect), I'll be submitting online next time. Something more lighthearted and smelly, I think.

Q1 is not dead, people!

P.S. I'm sitting at the SAC airport and waiting for my plane to take me to WOTF workshop week. Hoping I wont have to cause a scene holding the plane for Andrea who appeared on Good Day Sacramento this morning!
