I will NOT click on that link, Stewart. The song is already in my head.

But it's the 10 hour repeat version!

This is the thread that never ends!
It just goes on and on my friends!
Somebody started posting here not knowing what it was,
And they'll continue posting here forever just because

The Thread goes ever on and on
Out from the post where it began
Now far in space the Thread has gone
Let others follow it who can
Let them a quarter new begin
But I at last with sharp clawed feet
Will turn towards the steamy swamp
My evening-meal and chomp to meet...

Hmm. I'm not sure the original went quite like that. wotf005

or...

When Al Gore invented the internet he discovered three posts from this thread already here.

This thread died a year ago, but Death just hasn't built up the courage to tell it just yet.

This thread has already been to Mars; that's why there are no signs of life.

This thread and Superman once fought on a bet. The loser had to start wearing his underwear on the outside of his pants.

This thread has counted to infinity. Twice.

This thread has won American Idol using only binary code.

This thread does not sleep. It waits.

Hey, subbing Chuck Norris jokes for this thread is pretty fun!!

Let's be honest here. Most of us are just trying to keep our 'total percentage of posts in this thread' score high.

Tyler would get it. When we want to do a task in a program without waiting around for an answer, we launch what is called a "thread" to run that task while we keep doing what we're doing. Seemingly inevitably, this causes problems, as the different threads collide with each other, trying to change the same data at the same time or one thread undoing changes that the other relies on.

Imagine the old sitcom bits where different waiters try to come in and out the same door bearing trays of food and dirty dishes, and the inevitable collision that results. Metaphorically, that was my day yesterday, and it will be my day today.

I realize I have been remiss in assisting with this thread's unnatural inflation.

So to appease the thread gods, I would like to offer this link to a link to an analysis of Tina's gold-winning story (which was submitted during, and discussed in) this quarter thread's original run, as it were.

&c.
