I have the skeleton of a story which marries a well-accepted theoretical scientific principle with one that is (for the most part) totally debunked. I haven't seen these two put together before (and when I delve further into the principles of each, I may not either). It is as close as sea coral and a common weed which, structurally, look a lot alike. If it works out, I'll enter it next year. Have two more in process for next (yikes, THIS) quarter. wotf003 Better get my buns in gear. WriteWriteWrite.

There is some danger that persons of a Merlinesque persuasion (I note the facts in a perfectly non-discriminatory method of distinguishing the 'so' from the 'not so') will be unable to tell us when she finally wins owing to our not yet having joined the Forum.

Unless of course it is so(lips)ist to distinguish 'so' from 'not so'.

In which case I plead the 34th amendment to the US constitution.

Submitting to the past is the only valid way to be a Writer of the Future. Perhaps we've been going about this the wrong way all along.

I'd started on a story, but it ran over like a too full pie pan. I'm considering making it a novel. I think it has enough going on to work in the longer format... way too much for a short story. I have this odd thing where my short stories are typically very short and my novels are very long. wotf002 Hmmm. All this talk of pie... especially apple pie... is sounding pretty tasty. The best is made with Golden Delicious apples with so much cinnamon, butter, and brown sugar the apples have this gooey brown sauce all over them... like an apple pie cinnabon.

Ok, now you may go back to twitching.

You cannot be serious! Golden Delicious? AKA commercial cardboard? Now Granny Smith's is a different proposition entirely. wotf011

I believe I tasted a Granny Smith once; It made me pucker. (Get your mind out of the gutter, Martin!) Now the smooth, sweet flavor of a Golden Delicious (organic PLEASE) with just a hint of crispness is a perfect match for pastry. Hence the name... Delicious. And Golden like the sun. Unsurpassed ... for cooking. I fear HoneyCrisp has stolen my heart and tongue for raw pleasure. But, I imagine, it is difficult to get such delicacies in the UK. And, I suppose, they are picked green when they are shipped which would not allow them to ripen in the sun. If you've ever tasted an orange shipped from Florida to Ohio, it's a totally didn't flavor (lack of) than eating one in Florida.

My screen is totally messed up. Many error messages and, on my reply screen, no delicious apples are shown.
This screen issue has been going on for some time now. Anyway, the next time I'm in England, I'll certainly try some. I'll pass on Gator's fare, though. I like my meat medium not rare.

Thank you chaps. And yes, indeed, Q1 v.29 will always be with those of us who lived through it I fear. But clearly there is hope at the end of that dark tunnel.

I like to think my story isn't merely riding along on the skirts of greater writers than me, too, in that anthology. Partly the fact that I'm possibly the least known writer in there--presumably my story wouldn't have been picked at all if Hayden didn't think it was decent enough. And also, though there are only 2 reviews of the book on Amazon, one of those singles out my story as being among the reader's top three favourite stories. Which is cute! wotf006

Did you just say cute? wotf016

Erm, well yes I did, Gator. Give me a break, I'm happy snappy.
