Shhhh. Out of here, you.
Aren't you going to tell them, Nice E.? Or would that be little E.? That you are making a small announcement soon.
Get out of here. Shoo! We only came here to change our profile info.
Silly gator.
Heard that. Might want to keep a googly eye on the new blog though tasty peeps.
Don't call people "Tasty peeps". You know it makes them nervous.
Shrug.

Thanks KD, and Guthrington. And yes we all need to reassure Gator that she's still the HUGE scary gator she's always believed herself to be. A sulky Gator is nothing but trouble. We don't need that, not at all!

Thanks guys. And yup, Ishmael, that was the general idea: reach a certain level, prove that I'm more or less at a publishable standard before my situation became widely known. Obviously, there's a long way to go yet before I can prove I'm a good writer rather than just a publishable writer--I'm still a very much a new writer--but for me it was important to reach this first stage without any doubt as to how I got here.

Glad you enjoy it, Emily. If I remember correctly, it's from one of Twain's essays... I read it over a decade ago and have been using the quote for my signature ever since.

Actually, Peony is my Hobbit name (it's a not-so-long story that involves old friends, teenage Tolkien obsessions and online name generators). I used to go by the username Disgruntled Hobbit because the concept amused me, but a lot of sites have a 15-character username limit so I just started going by Disgruntled Peony instead.

I think I got confused because peonies are flowers or something. There was definitely also some fatigue thrown in, I'm sure. (Unless you're talking about your post instead of mine. I'm super easily confused of late, apparently. )

This is a peony (or paeonia) from my garden.
Sometimes known in Scotland as peony roses (though they aren't rosae).
I once attempted to read The Hobbit but failed. I have never read The Lord of the Rings or seen any of the films related thereunto.
But I do know a bit about how to make tea.

I responded to you, disgruntledpeony, instead of storysinger, hence the comment about flowers wilting when tired. Then I realized my mistake, tried to clarify with more confusion, and here we are! Hobbits and biscuits and tea! I'm in!!

That flower is gorgeous!
I read The Hobbit at age 11. Didn't finish The Lord of the Rings until considerably later, because despite being fun it is also lengthy enough that it deterred me in my youth. I prefer The Hobbit by far, but the trilogy definitely has its moments. (I've seen the three LotR films. However, I only watched the first Hobbit movie and got incredibly indignant they were making two more.)
In any case, you are absolutely welcome to the party.

Yes! The more the merrier!
Read The Hobbit in 8th grade, I think, and The Lord of the Rings multiple times, starting in high school. Can't believe I read Dune before The Hobbit. A lot of that book went over my 6th grade head.
