Eventually, results are posted here. If you haven't heard back from them after any quarter, and your name isn't on the honorable mention lists at the blog, I agree with Martin that you should query your most recent entry that is greater than 3 months old.

Anybody else get the e-mail from Author's Services about the upcoming awards thing for V28 and think, "oh, here's my polite rejection?" And then you see the title and go, "Whew (for now)." wotf018

haha Haven't gotten that email, but *any* correspondence from WOTF, even PM alerts, has me thinking "rejection already?". wotf002

Yes, I'm the same way. And it seems like we should begin seeing the rejections any day now...

With the awards banquet coming up, I think mid-March is a better bet. So you're safe to stop checking your email every hour. wotf011

That's the second invite I've gotten to this year's awards ceremony, and I haven't even submitted anything yet. Which also means I'm not watching for rejections wotf001

Perhaps the organizers are seeking your protection from airborne pests. wotf007

They could be at that lol. The airborne ones are the most fun to fight. People, they're alright, but I can really let go against the insect horde. Feels so much better after.

Btw, yes, I have an aggressiveness problem, but I promise I haven't killed anyone. So far wotf011

Just came up for an ending for my story. Should be finished in the next couple weeks, if things go as planned. Which, of course, they never do.

3 rejections on Duotrope already. It has definitely began, then.

So what is the difference between a Rejection and a Form Rejection? Are these mean the same thing on Duotrope?

Rejection means the poster didn't specify what kind. Form rejection means it was one of those form letters. Effectively speaking, I don't see much difference.

Where are these results? Can someone post a link please? This is my first quarter entering so I am unfamiliar with the process. Do results usually come through Duotrope?

Nothing official from the contest comes from Duotrope. Individuals post personal experiences and Duotrope tracks the statistics. This means that the data is subject to a lot of error from people reporting incorrectly and is in no way a complete representation of the data. Again. Duotrope is not affiliated with the contest.

Ok, so... I was a last minute paper submitter. I marked the ms as disposable, and I included an SASE. Postage rates have gone up by a penny in the meantime, and I'm not sure if I used a forever stamp. My email addy is part of the contact info on the removable first page.

Will I hear via email or snail mail? And I'll be among the last to hear because I submitted late in the quarter, right?

Thought: I wonder if that 58 day reject is actually a DQ? 58 days is a last minute sub. (MIne is at 60)

There have been people who've gotten their notification back as postage-due, so I suspect you'll either get an email or your postman will ask you for a penny when he delivers it.

I'm wondering what the 124-day rejection is...that was before the start of the quarter. It doesn't seem a non-published finalist would categorize a rejection as "form," either (since semis are clearly personals, and finalist is a step higher).

EDIT: oh, never mind, I'm being an idiot. We're already 53 days out from the end of the quarter, which I forgot to add in to the equation.

I clearly need to get more stories on the market, because with only two out right now (both anticipating responses any day, or, in the other case, a while ago), the duotrope addiction is in high gear. I need more out there so that I care less.

I don't know if it's worse when I have actual hope of an HM or higher, or when I'm assuming rejection, as I am for Q1.

wotf017

Ah well, good luck to all and may the waiting be non-painful.

I am hoping past hope for an HM while simultaneously telling myself not to get my hopes up. I hear this is a high-level meditation in Buddhist circles. wotf004

Kary,

I too am a last minute paper submitter. My e-mail is on my cover sheet. I didn't submit an SASE. I'm hoping that if I'm rejected, Joni will just send a form e-mail. I dunno. Is that easier than stuffing an envelope?

I need more out there so that I care less.

I agree!
I'm working on that now, looking over some older stuff to send them out. One rejection hurts less when there's three. wotf021

This is so nice not to stress. I'm a paper sub too, so I know I'll hear way later, much later. That rejection won't hurt so bad if it comes after winners are announced...right? I never got my *handmade* post card back telling me I was entered. I wonder if Joni got a kick out of this very unprofessional looking postcard with about seven stamps plastered on it? Yeah, I got a little stamp happy in my anxiety to rush the entry to the postoffice before midnight New Years Eve.

They were all forever stamps, so I doubt mine will come postage due....but hey you never know.

Eek! And now the fire is under my seat to finish my Q2 entry! And right after that I have to get a lot more stories out there. I let all those balls fall over the holidays...

Wow. That was pretty close to what mine said. Stress brings out my dyslexia and I was scribbling by hand so I kept having to cross things out and rewrite them. I don't even know if I could reproduce the disaster with a keyboard as a few of the symbols I was writing didn't really resemble actual letters of any known language.
