What I did with my nervous energy (and I have a lot with the workshop coming up and now knowing results are coming out). I sent off all my stories that were laying around to new markets. YEAH! Do I get a cookie?

I feel your pain. Oh! I had a student (college level) turn in a paper recently containing the word, "eggzist." It took me way too long to figure out what it meant. At least "commiserate" is seen seldom enough for that to be a valid excuse.

Sadly no smily with a cookie, only thing I could get you is some popcorn. wotf040

Good thing you had all these stories laying around.

And yet...why DID you have all these stories laying around? You should have submitted them already!

I have stories laying around. Dropped all those balls and need to get them rolling out the door (after I fix a few little things I've been meaning to do...might not roll as intended if I don't).

SUBMIT I will! And WRITE more!

Tina - Here's a nice gooey chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven. Or, if you prefer, a rich chocolate brownie? I can't remember which one you liked...

They were laying around because I'd gotten rejections on all of them recently, and hadn't gotten around to submitting them to the next market. A couple of the markets I had lined up next had different formatting guidelines and I was putting off doing that...then I started noticing myself checking the forum too many times, so instead I submitted those stories. And I'm not gonna lie. It felt good, even if none of them ever sell at least I won't have the excuse I never submitted them!

Thanks! And get those stories out. Every quarter we should dub this time 'Quarterly Submission Week' -- instead of checking Duotrope for results (or if you do) you pay the fine. Send out one story you have laying around....if the story you have laying around needs work--then you just have to get it done. The fine MUST be paid.

Also: Way cool, Tina. Smile
Fortunately, I have no nervous energy this quarter because I have very low expectations, and other things to stress over. This thesis isn't writing itself. For that matter... I'm not writing it either. Crap.

I'm guessing that was some sort of technical glitch. Unless your name happens to be Judy, which it isn't, but still.

When I read it, I imagine a stern grandmother shaking her head in disapproval as she trails off. (Although after the third repetition, the scene breaks down, and now I see a shorn mental patient hugging his knees and rocking as he repeats the only word he ever speaks. And like Kane's "Rosebud," the name's true significance is a mystery to everyone else.)

Interesting formatting. I wonder if this will be a quarterly trend.

And like Kane's "Rosebud," the name's true significance is a mystery to everyone else.)

The image you've provided, so compelling. It brings me back to all the mental institutions I've seen.

ETA: NOT as a patient! I know you were thinking it though.

It's hard to post between all that refreshing: Duotrope, this forum, other forums with WOTFers...

(Don't worry, Martin -- I've been writing like a madwoman all week, even this weekend.)

I wonder how long it will be before more of us have results to report. It looks like they're coming out in near-daily batches (save the weekend).

Could someone provide me the link to the duotrope forum please.

Also,

Anyone receive results yet for Q1? Have they started coming out?

Thanks.

What are people watching on Duotrope? If more people are reporting?

If there's a forum/discussion there, I'm missing it...

Nevermind, its at the bottom of the page. Would be better if it was at the top. Is there any way to have the site remember our preferences?

You should be able to do this by clicking "User Control Panel," then "Board Preferences" and then "Edit Display Options." The option you want is "Display topic order direction," which you can just change from descending to ascending. (or whatever else you want)

I think Corbin was just using the word "forum" to refer to the Duotrope site in general.
