Yikes, the list of us who are still in is pretty long. Not quite enough semi and finalists spots to go around. Looks like some of us are going to have to settle for an HM.
It's like musical chairs....has the music stopped yet?

Alas, our fair Morshana was taken out in last week's volley. She will fight again another day! (list edited)

23 of us. Anyone else? It's interesting to have a count. This plus the folks who have already heard (12 of them?) and we have a rough estimate of how many of us submit in a given quarter.

Then we can tally how many of us get HMs and up, derive a percentage of forum submitters who get awards, the percentage of awards taken by forum members, etc. (yes, I have a slight stats fetish)

I'm still in too at the moment if you want to make the list just a little longer. I think today is day 88 or 89 for me, so I'm due to be taken out today.

I'm still in the running, though my attempts at distracting myself are failing.

No sign of a Q2 entry, either. I probably should divine something up. . .

WOTF Duotropery may have crashed the site again (Duotrope, that is). At least I'm currently unable to get it to load. There is something ironic there, but I'm too distracted to suss it out right now.

Sticking with the warfare metaphor:

Not being able to even load Duotrope right now is frustrating in the same way that not being able to get an umbrella to deploy properly during a mortar attack would be.

Sorry to hear it, Tom.

In other news, my umbrella is up, for what it's worth. It was the last free one in the bucket at my dentist's office, and it has a big target on it. I feel pretty safe.

It's not Duotrope I'm having trouble loading, it's this forum! Not surprising perhaps considering the number of you guys I can see online. wotf001

Gator hears the terrifying sound of gunfire in the distance. She starts to dig.
"We needs a bigger trench," she declares. "We needs to climb in it."
Icky swamp mud flies everywhere, great gobs excavated with her sticky claws float downstream as her underwater lair grows ever deeper .

The foxhole is getting crowded. If we take any fire now, it is going to get messy in a hurry.

I just had an e-mail show up, felt my pulse shoot up, but it was just a Critters critique coming in. Pshew!

First rejection from Dec 31st submission just popped up on Duotrope.

And imagine, I have an OChem exam in 25 minutes and this is what I'm doing, haha

Good luck on both, but you might want to study a bit. We'll hold the fort.

As an aside, I submitted on the 31st, as usual, so my R should be coming in any minute. Wait, what's that high pitched whistling sound?! (Ducking and covering beneath umbrella)

Oh, just the water I was boiling for tea.

Just to take our minds off this current wave of doom, I have a question some of you may be able to help me with. Smile
I'm tweaking a possible Q2 entry. It has two vital but discrete sex scenes, in one of which I do, just once, use the word "p***s." (Ho hum - I feel so dumb blanking it out, but I suppose I should.) Do you think that is acceptable? I also have the word "screwing." Allowed? I think so, but the story is probably not for under 12's. It also is 1st person in a non-human POV. Any thoughts on that? Has KD mentioned any preferences in that dept?

Thanks chaps and chapesses. Back to manning the towers.

After a year of this, I have decided... It is time to share a secret I have kept hidden from you all for all these many months... But today is a day when you need it most... And so at last, I will share my secret... But I will obscure it, so that those who cling to other approaches will not be disturbed by my secret... While others can read it, and be comforted...

For I can now tell you: I have the secret, the all-important pattern for deciphering and predicting WotF results and timing... And here it is...

There is no pattern...
